Idk if it a DDOS but it might be the Christmas rush, but since xbox live is down, but battle.net is up I think it more likely a increase of server demand from new users.

Pisses me off. I was going to get married today and he cant log on. SO now im screwed since I heard they nerf your plat bracelets if you miss your slot. If you miss it you cant schedule till after 4 and hyperion has too many people so I wont get a spot for forever, that's what I heard anyway.
Hohoho here is your present! By Sony
The problem with this is Playstation systems require a connection to the PSN servers since you have a Playstation account. For FFXIV we tied our PSN account to our SE account, so in order for us to log in SE needs to check that your SE account is tied to the PSN account. They can't really avoid it, the check needs to be there, otherwise non-PS3/4 copy owners could log onto the game with their PS3/4.
It sucks, but that's how it has to be. I can't think of any workarounds.
$10 PC version from the SE shop. My computer isn't good enough for much, but checking retainers and leveling gathering should be okay.
You heard correctly. Everyone else will now be able to make reservations way ahead of you.Pisses me off. I was going to get married today and he cant log on. Can someone explain to me why FFXIV's update screen requires PSN? The game is working perfectly for people already logged in... even if they log out and go back to the login screen. But if the game is closed it won't get past the update screen.
Can't SE find a work-around besides depending on PSN every time the game is launched? If this has already been answered, I apologize... but it baffles me that so much dependency is on PSN when there shouldn't be one.
Exactly this.
There is the "Primary Console" feature that should be able to prevent this from ever happening.
But for whatever reason, it doesn't work with FF14.
Just for perspective, the current authentication system may be the result of policy rather than technical constraints. Having seen some of the guidelines that Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) requires developers to adhere to - for one, you can't close the game, only return to the title screen - I wouldn't be surprised if restrictions on third-party account logins are part of these requirements.
I would love to have the ability to unlink the PSN and SE accounts without support intervention, have the Square Enix ID kept in an local save file so PSN doesn't have to be online to login to FFXIV, or specify another Square Enix ID to be logged into - but something tells me SCE doesn't like those ideas.

What SE needs to do is make it where there is a offline mode to log into FFXIV like steam has.
If some how psn goes down the you can go around and log into the game and SE provides torrent updates on the side.
