But aren't Au Ra from Doma? Is Doma in Dravania (North-West from current content)? I thought it was from the East in or beyond Ilsabard? Meracydia (another dragon-related location) is in the South, so it is probably not that either.Dravanians are basically dragons (the ones we see around Steel Vigil, Stone Vigil, Savara, etc.) who can glamour themselves to look like Hyurs or whatever other race they want. If Au Ra are, in fact, Elezen + Dravanian mix race, they could be taking the form of what is most appealing for each sex (male = muscular, female = petite).
I can already picture an Au'ra couple, and how those horns will become an every day's problem :|
I suppose they will look pretty incredible as Dark Knights tho

Its a bit strange...
I can live with the demonic demi beastmen, but then why the tail?
That tail is more like Lizard demi beastmen or Dragon demi beastmen and not demonic...
Irony is demonic themes are oftn similar to goats and um... well... but the tail? seriously??
Ok lets say its dragon demi beastmen, i can understand the tail now, even the horns (well, not all designs of them) but those are not looking like draconians as we know them from older FF games...
About the skin ... well... in FFXIV we do not have any race specific "bonus" - maybe spoiler for 3.0?
I like them, its just... a bit unexpected...

Doma is in the eastern continent Othard.
A real worldmap from Hydalin would be nice, not only one from Aldenard an Vylbrand ^^

Yeah, there's a lot of speculation being thrown around due to the Shiva quest and that the males share features similar to Elezen as well as having scales like a Dravanian. It could very well be unrelated, but that would make it a lot more confusing. Races do have physiological differences (in the game and in real life) but these are quite drastic ones. If the males of the race grew to be muscular and tall, it's strange that the females didn't acquire either of those traits given that they both live in the same environment (Doma). Every other race available are relatively similar to eachother, sharing similar height and body structure. It would've even been fine if they worked like Hyurs, where the subraces are different heights, maybe make one where the males are tall/females short and the other where the females are tall/males are short. Since we're making comparisons to real life evolution, spotted hyenas have this difference (female larger than male) as well as females being the dominant gender. Something to keep in mind is that this is a fantastical environment and that the laws of real world evolution don't necessarily apply to Eorzea, so I really think drawing this comparison is sort of pointless. The females really were just made petite to appease the male playerbase, as were the males (male power fantasy).
Anyway, it's not really surprising as this is Japan and they have a completely different culture/set of ideals than us in the NA/EU. I'm just disappointed that we didn't get the female equivalent of the male version in either of the subraces.
The current map we have is based on Eorzea's understanding of the current world (note that unexplored areas, like Ala Mhigo, are depicted vaguely with similar structures to other unexplored areas, as well as Garlamald being depicted with white clouds), so that's why we don't have any other areas mapped out. When we get to Doma, it'll be added to the map, same with everywhere else.

Male
Female
Because "lolsexism" right? No, it's called Sexual Dimorphism, which is defined as "the differences in appearance between males and females of the same species, as in colour, shape, size, and structure, that are caused by the inheritance of one or the other sexual pattern in the genetic material." (bolded sections are relevant)
The problem are these live-at-home social warriors who are trying to redefine an established scientific principal because they can't accept that there are fundamental differences between sexes that stem from millions of years of evolution. Males are male, and females are female. Your best bet would be for SE to implement a race of humanoid slugs. That way you can enjoy all your gender-ambiguities and not have to push them on everyone else.

I wonder how tattoos will look like since Au Ra have those scales on their arms

No, it isn't like the world how the Eorzeas understand it, it just only show Eorzea (Aldenard and the isle Vylbrand). Or do you think that there was no traderoutes between Ala Migho and the cities in the north before Garlemald decided to conquer the world? The current map we have is based on Eorzea's understanding of the current world (note that unexplored areas, like Ala Mhigo, are depicted vaguely with similar structures to other unexplored areas, as well as Garlamald being depicted with white clouds), so that's why we don't have any other areas mapped out. the woldmap we have currently is mostly something like this
