Nagarok or rune axe since everything sounds so close to the 12 sealed weapons from FF v

What is Nagarok? There was no such name ever in any game afaik.

12 sealed weapons from ff5?
Assassins dagger, Apollos harp, Holy lance, Magus Rod, Sage Staff. Yea almost everyone is from that /not.
Only same name was Excalibur, with close 2nd Sasuke's Katana, not blades.

Same deal was with Omnirod, FF3 it was BLM staff, FFXIV WHM.

Its not the first time they switch things around, and I believe this was even asked from them and they said its not mistranslation and its meant to be that way.

I imagine the DRK relics being named Deathbringer/Chaosbringer.

The DRK weapon will most likely be Balmung or Gram. That'd be my guess.

Thank you all for your feedback. I thought more people were interested in continuity but it seems i was wrong. SE wins again it seems.
By the way i got my answer in the litle lore provided at the end of the ragnarok questline.
Ragnarok:

"An ancient hero seized a weapon like this from a voidsent lord. At the time it was taken, legend tells us it was a sword. Yet later, it transformed to match the bent of its wielder and became a might battleaxe."

Now if only the developers would give me an answer about glamouring a previous step of the relc, or do i have to redo all this tedious quests again to gain back what was already mine ?

p.s.: and what about that goergeus ver. of Holy shield, will we ever see it in game ?

Long-running series are prone to change when it suits them. Save the Queen has been an iconic sword in the series since pretty much forever ago, but if I recall correctly, it was a whip in FFVIII? Uses of common names/themes that string through the entire Final Fantasy series is one of the things the franchise is known for, I don't think anyone should be surprised that years later, as the series continues to progress, slight changes will creep into certain titles before they eventually go back to what they were in games past. Continuity doesn't even really factor in where naming conventions are concerned because it isn't the first time iconic names have been used for different iconic things. I'd say just enjoy this title for what it is/what it has the potential to become and stop wishing it was something else.

Actually, a general question of interest:

Before, the final boss of the LotA was "Acheron", but was forced to change to "Phelegathon" because there were translation errors and oversights (ie JP team not talking to US team until it's too late)

We already have a Ragnarok Central Core area- Therefore there is a Ragnarok that is some kind of technological ship/device involved in the coil (the name of the ship?) AND a Ragnarok weapon. Perhaps there was a mistake?

Also makes you wonder why they didn't go with another general-FF-centric axe name, like Guttler or Conqueror.

Save the Queen is a sword in FFIX.
Save the Queen is a whip in FFVIII.
They use different names for different weapons.

Going back to the lore thing, that is currently missing. I think it would have been awesome and more engaging if they would have included back story pertaining to the brave that wielded the weapon. How they came into the weapon, grew with it in power, etc.. Begin the quest with them doing something and stuff happening, cut it short with suspense. You get the rest of the story for that part of the Zodiac progression on completion of that stage. That would have been cool. Each weapon had a brave, each would have it's own stories.

Just my 2g though.

It's really not that important. Look at dragoon's Longinus, it could have been Whale Whisker or Kain's Lance, etc. If I had to make a hope/guess of drk's relic I would say Chaos Blade. For that matter blm's relic could have been Mace of Zeus. When you have so much to choose from you tend to pick what seems to fit in the long run. If samurai ever gets implemented I would say relic would be Masamune or Chirijiraden. Who can say?
