If samurai ever gets implemented I would say relic would be Masamune or Chirijiraden.

Odds are it'll either be named after Masamune or Muramasa (or one of their weapons) as those are the most well known sword smiths in japan . Given the legends about the two's craft they will always be a yin and yang for Samurai swords. I can already envision a lore plot where you start with one (Muramasa) and evolve it into the other (Masamune). To bad very few samurai in the series can fight like Musashi and use two swords in battle.

I personally like the design very much but i will agreen on Ragnarok. Warrior weapon deserve another name. Ragnarok would had been better for DRK on the expancion and make it a Great Sword.

Each Final Fantasy has a different take on the series' reoccurring elements.

I hear you. Might add that one's frame of reference also matters.

This does not take away the fact that some things are just a tad odd. When ragnarok is a sword 90% of the time, it catches people by unpleasant surprise.

The different take on series' reoccurring elements can be neglected. Why do all races have the exact same movement animations as their FFXI "counter parts"? Yet they are not at all the same race (according to SE). It gets frustrating when they randomly decide what will be different (DRK a tank for example. Might add that I love it, but I understand people are surprised).

Some things just work better, faster, easier for developers at a certain time. The "different take" is a nice, political explanation SE gives us to hide behind.
