The Ragnarok and the Zodiac weapons

Ragnarök is the Norse equivalent to the Catholic Apocalypse in the sense that its the final war or the war where everything dies or is destroyed.

However (taken from wiki) only the wealthy and upper-class Vikings had swords as they were costly to make and the size of a Spathae. The battle axe's like Mammen and Dane were much more common. It makes sense to have Warriors weapon named Ragnarok, but the double head axe and/or Labrys is more modern fiction than historical Viking use.

If warriors were based on barbarians like Conan instead of Vikings, then theres a point about the relic name. But right now our War is like a hybrid of the two that leans more toward Viking.

If one looks at Final Fantasy lore, there are a ton of swords, yet only a handful of axes as there was never a playable character in any Final Fantasy game that explicitly used axes. Off the top of my head, the only notable axe-wielder character was Lani from FFIX.

Right now, the most prominent axes in the series are as follows:

Ogrekiller
Rune Axe
Gigantaxe
Titan's Axe
Earthbreaker
Francisca

Ogrekiller may have been a better name for the axe rather than Ragnarok, however I doubt the 90% majority of the playerbase is so invested in Ragnarok being a sword over being an axe, especially when there's only one sword job in the game and the first greatsword job, Dark Knight, won't be around until 3.0 next year.

Besides, after having swapped the names of the Omnirod and the Elder's Staff, I doubt they even care.

EDIT: I should add an observation slightly less related to the topic. I notice, on the zodiac weapons, that there is a dye circle in the top-right corner. Does this mean that the Zodiac Weapons can be dyed?

Yep I'm looking forward to that, the white paladin relic sometimes clashes with my preferred glamour set.

Yep! they can be dyed, no shine/glow but we can dye away! xD

Lets hope it stays that way for the 135 version. Really tired of glows. If they do decide to add a glow (which is gonna happen anyways) include the first version of the zodiac in that Calamity npc along with the other relics we earned so we can just glamour over it.

As for the whole Ragnarok name debate idc cause it sounds awesome and fits the destructive tanking style of war's.

In all seriousness, who really cares about the weapons name? Ragnarok sounds like a wicked name for an axe. Cool, it isn't the same weapon as it was from other games, but it is still there. I'm surprised people are complaining about Ragnarok being axe more than they are complaining about Apocalypse being a book. Either way, just deal with it. What is SE going to do? Fix everything? Change the name of Ragnarok? This whole ordeal is really silly.
