The people who already had the gil before can spend the money the exact same way as the person who trades a bracelet for that same gil.

Or, like me, can take their gil and remove it from circulation by buying a house with it. Which is my plan, and takes gil off of the market that was just going to either 1) trade hands between players, or 2) sit on someone's retainer until they had something to spend it on. Sheesh.
