because someone who is using auto attack
Compared to not, the person not using AA will have an advantage over those who use AA.
Didn't really think that was a hard concept to grasp lol.
So what you're suggesting, is that you have an action which is basically your auto-attack hit, but with a cooldown of the weapon delay? Or are you suggesting there should be an auto-attack toggle button?
Yes I do have a My Little Pony sig because I'm not a complete loser who lives in his own little world, proclaiming something is stupid because I say so.
Could you please explain how no using Auto Attack would give someone an advantage?
(This is an honest question, by the way. I don't understand why it would be an advantage)
I don't expect them to get rid of the cool down timers or anything like that.
I just don't want to punch or whack the monster with my staff unless I choose to do so.
I'd like an Auto Attack toggle button.
Personally, I'd be fine with putting it in the configuration menu because I would just turn it off and leave it off.
But perhaps other people would want an easier way to toggle it on and off without going through the menus?
Okay. Just wanted to get clarification. A good portion of people would just like an auto-attack toggle mapped to a key, but for ease of engaging an enemy. Either way, it seems like a reasonable request. I think a lot of people posting here had different ideas of what you were looking for.

People keep saying CC CC and umm CC... but well it never has come up with an issue. You don't attack uless you target lock, and you might as well be smacking it if you are targeting locked. Locking and unlocking is like instaneous in FF14.
So people so far are just complaining to...complain.
When CC finally becomes an issue, we can expand on it, but for now, it's not, you might as well be hitting it because Tp isn't wasted unlike FF11.
AA does not affect my CC because I use <st> in my macros.People keep saying CC CC and umm CC... but well it never has come up with an issue. You don't attack uless you target lock, and you might as well be smacking it if you are targeting locked. Locking and unlocking is like instaneous in FF14.

CC - Crowd control
And the issue with Auto attack is for me.
I root a mob.. my character turns around to hit the mob as i run off ...
It's main use in game seems to be to un root mobs for me, an to occasionally in a really confined space do a tiny bit more damage to a mob..
So if people want to argue Advantage over Disadvantage:
I'm choosing to lower my dps/tp generation to gain a tiny bit more Control over my toon and my CC options. But if we all have a toggle we can all do that if we want.
Everyone is happy? As everyone can play the way they want..
So why would it be a bad idea?

You won't run very far if you're in active stance either, and considering it's more a lag problem then AA problem, since AA animation is superseded by any movement, even moving.CC - Crowd control

And you won't attack the enemy anyway unless you're locked...which you can unlock. Simply cancel your target or even just unlock auto attack lock will make sure of it.
And the option to turn off/on is a major developer problem, because it can't keep track of timing and proc rate. It has been abused timelessly, including FF11, in which the "delay zero glitch" by faking AA stances using high delay weapons.
The functions are build in for you to not attack, perhaps a little too extensive, the fact you choose not to use it and want a toggle is...rather odd.
Playing how you want to play usually means ruining it for everyone else. Thus M-M-ORPG. Not SP you paid $60 RPG.
