It's not only obtainable via GSM. You can either use GSM to get the common method or you can gather the MIN/BTN turn-in items to get Forger's Hat/Hatchet/Pickaxe and desynth those. I've been desynthing the pickaxe since desynthesis was released and it's NOT fun but it is better than nothing.
