There sure are some easily offended people on here ^_-

I have nothing against legit players who craft like crazy, however there are *many* people bot crafting, using a mouse click macro or whatever.

There are botters selling materia, demimateria, shards etc etc.

The cheats need to be investigated and banned.

I agree but when people lump together legit players and bots into one like earlier in the thread its just ignorant.

Exactly where do you draw your line? Ninjas who macro mudras rather than memorize? How about healers who have a swift cast/raise macro? Shouldn't we completely do away with quick synth? Heck, that's a bot right there. I can make tons of ingots and get caught up on my favorite tv shows at the same time. Just because someone macros the process doesn't make the RNG gods smile down on them with any more brilliant light. The number of shards retrieved from desynth is laughable for sales. Look, I spent 4 hours getting 4,000 shards and now I have 400,000 gil. So what? People use macros in this game for their intent - to perform the same menial task repetitively without intervention. People who feed gil sellers are those who buy gil to purchase things they don't want to work for in the first place. If no one bought it, there wouldn't be a market.

There is a huge difference between third party macro's and in game macro's that you have to click.

So you've never had someone give you a macro or found one online?... Say in forum hosted by Square Enix? That's the very definition of 3rd party. How are you going to police the origin of a macro? Someone should definitely shut this forum thread down! [/sarcasm] I know I'm coming across a bit sarcastic... Ok, a lot sarcastic, but see my point?

You'll have to spell it out, because from where i'm sitting, it looks like you don't even know what your talking about.

A 3rd party mouse macro etc is not the same as copying someones in game macro's.

For the hard of hearing in the back - 1st party = game, 2nd party = player, 3rd party = other person who gives the macro to one of the other two party members. Grade school. What the heck do you think a 3rd party macro is? Do you think they magically plant it into your macro list or do they maybe provide it to you so that you copy/paste it into your macro list? Hmm... Just because you get it for free from someone else doesn't mean that it's not a 3rd party. I'm really interested in your definition of a 3rd party. A 3rd party mouse macro? What in the 12's are you talking about? A macro mouse that's readily available at WalMart that just about every MMO player uses? Are you referring to one of the hundreds of macro keyboards that people use for MMO's? Seriously? Um, yeah, even Yoshi-P uses a macro keyboard. In an interview, he said that he tests on a controller to ensure that even those players can beat things, but that he'd be lost without his macro keyboard and mouse. I don't think you know what you're talking about or you're just complaining because other people can afford a $75 mouse and you can't. Well, save some cash and get one. Geesh, next you'll complain that people have a better internet connection and a faster processor, more memory, a better sound card, nicer speakers, a bigger monitor, ultra-HD, and the top of the line video card. Get over it.

[edited to add] And yes, it is the same thing to copy/paste macros as it is to buy a macro mouse. It's a repetitive motion that's replaced with automation, whether that automation is physical or otherwise. How the heck is using a mouse to click on something any different than firing it off with the "/ac" command? Do you picture these mouses like the brooms Mickey Mouse used in Fantasia?

3rd party macro is the wrong term, it's 3rd party software that uses macros, aka botting.

Just curious, but don't the in-game macros still require you to queue up each synth manually? I mean there isn't a quick syn option that allows you to issue macro commands for each synth, unless I'm mistaken.

You're incorrectly correlating "third party" with "Third-party software component" which are two different animals all together.

There is nothing illicit about copying/pasting macros to be used within the in-game macro interface. The fact that someone has placed them in a useful and organized format to share does not detract from the fact the in-game macro interface is a service provided by SE. Someone using a "mouse macro" to perform a click action to self-automate the crafting process is quite illicit on the other hand.
