To be clear: 'opening up' your Personal house to friends is potentially different than actually allowing them to USE your house. Meaning that the setting to allow friends access to your house could be just another privacy option on Personal/FC homes. Like now it's either: 'everyone can enter' or 'only I can enter'. They might be changing it to: 'everyone can enter' or 'only people on my friends list can enter' or 'only I can enter. Still, in this case, the only person actually able to interact with the items in your home (NPC, gardens etc) would be you.
So even this specific topic needs further clarification. (Would friends only be able to enter or would they be able to actually interact with items?).
I suspect btw, in this case, they'd only be granted access. (Allowing you to purchase a 'personal' home but let your entire friends list use it like it was theirs would be problematic b/c it would lessen the need/utility of FC housing for groups...and also because I doubt they will make it that you can pick and choose specific people from your friends list...and just because someone is on your friends list doesn't mean you want them crashing on your couch drinking your good wine for free).
What I was referring to is at one of the Fan Fests someone asked YP if personal housing would be sharable by 'bonded characters' And the official response was along the lines of 'it's not planned but it would be easy to implement so we'll likely look into adding it in the future' Not only that, but after this statement was made, it was also suggested by YP that they plan on slowly adding more perks and utility to player bonding (I have no idea what these perks would be, but they wouldn't happen when you get married, but whenever SE decided to add them...if they ever added them). Which is nice, but also concerning now that I know there are effectively '2 types' of marriage tiers. I just do not want SE to do something like let us get married now, making it seem like if you opt 'Standard' the only things you aren't getting are 'vanity' items and then later actually be screwed out of actual useful items, like shared living etc.
And to be frank, after the cluster-f that was FC and personal housing, I just do not trust them.
