Next people will be thinking they are entitled to a free copy of Heavensward because they pay a subscription that funded its creation...
So much drama over a few novelty items.

You paid for free wedding ceremony and you got it. And paying the subscription doesn't mean that you are entitled for all stuff for free as there is no proof that this additional content is not self-funded or in scope of development budget backed up by your subscription.
The most reasonable assumption is that if there is no cash shop on game - there would be no gold or platinum plans at all, only basic one with the same features as it is now - i.e. no additional glamour, mounts etc.
Cash shop allows more resources for the team (and SE itself always will get its share of profit regardless whether cashshop there or not).

I was on the edge at first, but I agree now that I have some perspective on the matter. This is not a F2P game where we should have to pay in order to experience and enjoy the perks and elements of the game. I see no problem with the cash shop in it's own when you want to be a special item, or minion; but when it comes to an element of gameplay then please don't try to segregate the players with "Pay more money to have fun!"
What the. That's the very definition of "exception."

Then don't get married simple as that.
No need for a topic, simply forget about it and move on.
I am not downing on you all but if you don't wanna get married I see no reason to post how you aren't because it wasn't what you expected.
Simply turn a blind eye to the idea of marriage on the game, while the ones who do get married well that is up to them and you blowing up on forums to try and get rid of something mostly everyone was fighting and screaming for and that same sex marriage deal for nothing.
No body is forcing you but you, your pc, your wallet, your mind.

Seems like many kids on stage... anyone of you defending that already is marriaged in real life?
Marriage is a once in lifetime "bonding" and therefore it is special...
Your argumentation about "free" and " just vanity" is in vain because no one likes to marriage in shreds!

I was going to find someone to get married for the mount but now that it might cost a lot I probably won't spend money on it unless someone else wanted to pay for me but I don't know anyone that would.

Right now it's just a speculative argument, because no one really knows exactly what is in all the plans. All we know is that the plans exist, and they have some additional vanity options. They also said that the Standard/Free plan is fully-featured and that they expect many players to be fully satisfied with that. The issue will only be settled once people see what's in the plans and the according prices, and then see if the Standard Plan is really good enough for most people or not.
Honestly, I think that is part of the reason for it as well. They probably want the mount to be reserved for people who are somewhat serious about eternal bond, not just going through with it in order to get the mount.

This argument is really old and so far fetched its not funny. Do you complain when you buy a cd and they release another cd with some bonus tracks for a few dollars more? Why is it so special here? You people think just because they develop something that it MUST BE FOR YOU!!
WRONG!!
Don't be so naïve to think that every single dollar people pay in subs goes straight for developing content just for you, because it doesn't. You asked for marriage in game and YOU GOT IT!! ITS FREE!!
The extra stuff DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU. It NEVER DID. You want the extra goodies then you are going to have to pay for it.
Funny thing is he is still going strong and paying to play. Don't like it? Then stop subbing. because im so tired of the doomsday talk from him
All of those games albeit FFXI have a cash shop, and have had a cash shop for YEARS.
