For those people that keep repeating this: WoW still has 10 million subscribers and they have been double-dipping for years.

Not defending it, just saying people are more than willing to pay extra for fluff items despite the fact they are paying a monthly fee. By no means is it an indication that the game is going downhill or that it will go F2P. Simply and indication that companies can and will take advantage of the fact that people will blindly throw money at anything.

It's going downhill as a game. I know that there's people willing to throw thousand of euros to a cash shop, but such a game (and company) wouldn't be remembered as a good one by most players, specially when doing things like these.

All the goodwill and respect that SE won by redoing the game, they're losing it with their double-dipping. Congrats if it works for them, but they can be damn sure that if they flop again in the future people won't be as willing to give them a third chance and support them.

Yes, but I'm sure a lot of people are on FFXIV because it was (at first) the only MMO without cancer, I mean Cash shop. So if our precious game is the same as others and our devs keep messing with what they put in it (Hunt, Personal housing, Chocobo stable, Gardening, ect), their customers will just go on an other game.

To clarify, they said there would be THREE options (only two were even mentioned), they listed optional details, but did not confirm from what I was able to see that any of them were explicitly from the Cash Shop. For now it's better to go at this with a speculative eye rather than jumping to conclusions that everything is locked behind a pay wall until it's explicitly confirmed that they're behind such. There is still the third option that wasn't named or, to our knowledge, talked about in any way. And yes, they did mean three plans based on what the slide said, as well as the commentary accompanying it. Assuming just causes more issues that don't need to exist.

Three options are Free, Gold (pay) and Platinum (pay more).

Both paid ones come with extra items like a special Draught Chocobo and some other costumes, though I don't think they specified which one comes with what or if both do, free one comes with nothing else except the wedding itself.

That's because when they hide, avoid, and/or tell us that we can see in the patch notes something that they barely give any details about, it's usually because it's not good at all. Past experiences tell us so.

Seeing as how the marriage ceremony will require a gm present, as well as the other stuff, I can see why they have it set this way. I think people are over reacting, as usual, but whatever. "the game is dying/going f2p" topics have been going on since launch.. give it a rest.
