Regardless of which, simplicity does not outweigh lacking demand.

I'd LOVE to have the option to use Emerald/Topaz again vs the Egi that overtook them. Carby looks like...10x better then the egi that replaced them (and would probably be used ALOT more if the potency was upped with a SMN job soul... Personally, I think Carby should be default summonable for BOTH jobs and have the Titan/Garuda or Eos/Selene have their own Proper icons/separate spells.
"Welcome to the ranks of the blue mages. However, at this moment you are but an empty vessel--a base creature, weaker than the most ordinary mortal. A blue mage must wrest her strength and vitality from her enemies. Show me your hunger for unrivaled power! This is the only guidance I shall give you."
~ Final Fantasy XI Treasures of Aht Urhgan
It is a simple request, yet the implementation may not be equally simple.
The problem is that the spells SummonI-II are technically the same spells for ARC, SCH and SMN.
So they would have to add new spells or create a separate window/menu to configure your pets appearance for each spell.
Both methods would need coding and testing.
I don't think it is high enough on their prio list right now, but I would welcome the possibility to choose the pets appearance in the future.

- Clone the 2 existing Carbuncle summoning spells, increase the potency on the Carbuncles they summon.
- Redirect Summon I and Summon II for SMN to point to those spells.
- Create Summon IV and Summon V, and point those to the spells that summon Titan-Egi and Garuda-Egi.
Done.
All the above are trivial to implement.
I have no idea where you get the idea that we need config windows ...

You forgot skills for Enkindle. Let's also not forget leveling dungeons are designed around what skills a player has at that level. If players had Carbuncles who sub for Garuda and Titan, that balance is altered, and further adjustments might need to be made. Adding the skills is only part of it....

If you want Carbuncle, remove your SMN stone and play as ACN.
Dude this is not Microsoft Word copy and paste.
How come you are so certain it is trivial to add spells to a complex game, do you have sourcecode? Pls share with me.
Also I stated new spells OR a config window.

...
What makes you think it isn't?
What kind of idiot programmer would write a game where spells are difficult to change/add/remove?
It probably is literally copy and paste.
Copy the function[1] that summons the Carbuncles. Change a few of constants. Ta da! New Carbuncle +1 summoning spell.
The rest are just "pointers".
FFXIV's UI is in all likelihood event based. Each UI elements have their associated events when triggered, all you have to do is change the event handler.
Seriously, have you written a computer program in your life?
[1] Actually, chances are the function that does the summoning is probably the same across all pets and what is summoned just depends on the arguments passed to it. So no copying required.

You know, it wouldn't be so bad if they didn't keep teasing us with it.
The Carby wondering around Revenant Toll with all the cute emotes.

Then you have the furniture and low Lv players running around with them. /sigh -_-
I started the summoner because of the carbuncle and was very disappointed when I got the egis. I would love to have carbuncle back![]()
