As a WoW player, I can definitely say that this was not the case, at least for the release of TBC (their first expansion). However, the grind to level 60 (cap for classic) was atrocious because of the lack of quests. It was still easier to get to lvl 60 after TBC because you could access new areas at level 58 and have a flood of quests for exp. It was made easier on the second and espically the third expansion to catch up the previous level cap and get into the new content.

In WoD, you'd only get a character to level 90, which was the cap for MoP. All this really does is let you get into WoD content as soon as possible, making it feasible for new players to join in if they were newly invited, or for veterans to create new characters on another realm with their friends.

But you are definitely right in the "if its new, it'll be fast" quip. This was the case for ninjas with FATE trains, and espesically the case for the Sexus grind when it came out. Have fun finding a party for sexus light farm or even finding someone that's still updating the bonus light window if you werent working on it the first 3 weeks after release.

I wasn't quite sure on this. It has been a while since I played. I do recall them reducing the xp needed to get to a certain level a couple of times. And I'm sure the introduction of the heirloom gear helped out too.

But yes, I do think that the expansion will cause problems for people that aren't ready to jump right into it. Which is why I think and should make plans to get ahead of this. I have meet a lot of people online that are just now getting around to leveling ninja and are already having problems. Many wished they would have started when everyone else did.

Expansions are typically times when people will come to check out the game. Returning players especially. Last thing you want to do if you are either of these types of people is to feel that you are so far behind everyone else that it seems almost impossible to catch up with them.

Now you know how raiders feels when Coil gets nerfed.

    How is this related?

They were referring to how the entire relic questline could be rendered irrelevant by the new expansion, because it doesn't extend into it. Topped off with the possibility that a random quest item would outstat and outdamage it too. Which can be said the same for coil weapons, but that's still not relevant to...coil nerfs?

I spotted a few sarcastic comment trying to relate relics with coil while proclaiming to support the idea of ditching relic altogether. Quite funny really, how is the two even related ?

Guess it's true those "raiders" will do anything to belittle other people who don't belong with them just to boost their ego. This whole rubbish about "nerf coil ditch relic" just sounds like a bad case of butthurt, really now.

    Pretty much lol,
Hence why i stopped at atma stage as i knew meh... Im behind and its almost expansion time. No point in tearing my hair out trying to catch up when i know it'll be easier to when the expansion drops.
In general we do things because they r relevant in the present but won't be much in the future just like how ppl spend $$ on games that won't be BiS in the months to come but they buy it because they like it, want to try it, must have it for their collection, just felt like it lol

I haven't done it in the first place They always have pretty much always had multiple routes (so far) for getting high level weapons. Anyone who has chosen to to all the work, more power to you. But... I personally would like everyone to start on the same page from 3.0 rather than have a leg up. Like say with 1.0 characters. the majority of the 1.0 players I know finished everything right away at 2.0 launch then either started a new character or just moved games. It created an uneven playing field at ARR launch that just didn't need to be there.

I give them props for trying it but I personally think it did more harm than it did good.

Now comes 3.0 Heavensward. I would rather have an even playing field with everyone else than an uneven one.

    Just IMO.
My drg is on the verge of a gae bolg nexus. I started it, oh let's see, about 2-3 months ago? Not, sure, I started it as soon as the quest came. Repeating garuda HM just.....mutilated my mind, I had to stop. I kept telling myself how much I hated what I was doing. I should have been trying to clear coil, raise gil, but no, I was doing fates and garuda and hating every second of it. Now I just casually get lights through dungeons. Do I want this crap to disappear forever? YES.

wth was wrong with some simple quick skill check like the HM primals? What players get out of the relic quest is trash compared to endgame weapons anyway? why se have to rape our souls for it......

Starting over for the expansion seems like the most logical thing to do. I know there was a lot of people that were upset at the system when it first came out. People did not like how awful the drop rates for atmas were. And I imagine there are still people like this. Starting over gives developers and players a chance to has a new chance at this.

In addition if they were to require the previous upgrade relic to start the expansion version, it seems like they would need to also create either a kind of catch up series of quests or an entire quest that essentially lets players bypass the entire previous relic upgrades just so they can then start on the new relic. It seems like this option would be more hassle than just having everyone start fresh at 60.

Same. It would seal the deal on my unsubscription. It was also the nail in XI's coffin for me when they made AH trash superior to relic/mythic/emp. Sure they semi-fixed it ... eventually... sorta... but FF MMOs are waaaay too grindy to pull that kinda crap.

Gear trivialization is fine if it's easy-come-easy-go... but when you grind hundreds of hours, if not more, on what's supposed to be the lore's ultimate weapon it is a massive slap to the face for that time to be flushed.
