Aesthetician: Skin and Eye Colour Modification

There was a thread on this the other week, it had the same conclusion.


People asked for Fantasias, there's not going to add in a skin-colour adjustment.


The only semi-confirmed one was Yoshi said "That could work" to eye-colour changes via the Aesthetician.

Plenty of fantastical ways pigmentation could be altered.

You can always imagine up your own anyway, not everything has to be lore-illustrated.

Like said in the other thread, it probably wont happen, people decided they wanted to pay for those features and SE delivered.

So far I'm glad they implemented the aesthetician before the cash shop or we wouldn't even have an aesthetician right now.

As far as we all know, the Aesthetician is not a magician nor is he well-versed in hyper-advanced garlean cosmetic tech (if that even exists). Ergo, this would break lore. I mean, unless you believe that a pair of scissors and some makeup is all it takes to permanently change one's skin and eye color until it's changed again.

This is half of what Fantasia is for (the other half being race/gender change). I'm all for new hairstyles, new makeup designs, even the introduction of body tattoos if that ever becomes a thing. But skin color change and eye color change? I don't really think that can be done.

Want to change my mind? Lore me and be reasonable about it.

Or grow me a beard in the matter of a second.

And add or remove tattoos in the matter of a second.

And change completely black hair to pure white hair in the matter of a second. (Have you ever tried bleaching hair? It is HARD and LONG and does not work proper half the time)

Please find a better excuse.

Nothing about skin color, but they said at least we can do the eye...but we can't, devs, what is goin on? Contacts are easy, takes me 1 min to change my eye color RL, don't see why you can't do it in game ; ;

As for the lore with the skin color, people can get tans, or use body paint...I've done it enough times RL.

I would also like to be able to change buffness (or whatever the other races/genders have for that slider). Over time my character can gain muscles (Especially more than he had when he was level one haha) or lose them. I would like to reflect that.

The fact that time in a game is hardly ever consistent with anything ever. Cooking deviled eggs from raw ingredients in less than a minute? All aboard the Salmonella train!

You can't use time as a factor in this debate when the time it takes to do anything is so unbelievably skewed from real life.

Now explain to me how the aesthetician would change skin color or eye color. Do contact lenses even exist in the world of FFXIV?

You might be thinking that I don't want the aesthetician to have these abilities. I actually would. But until it can make in-universe sense, I can't stand for it. Convince me that it can be done in the world of Final Fantasy XIV and I will support you.
