Yeah, our original poster doesn't have a problem with getting Soldiery. He probably has alot of Soldiery now. Their 'problem' is that the new gear isn't bought with Soldiery. His 'suggestion' is that they should have just bumped down the Soldiery gear in lieu of the Poetic gear and left the tomes alone, allowing him to buy the Poetic gear with Soldiery. Yeah, just a 'why can't I have nicer things' thread.

The reason why they didn't do this:

Philosophy buys i70 gear
Mythology buys i90 gear
Soldiery buys i100 gear
Poetics buys i120 gear

Nice and simple.

They didn't mess around with what the older tomes provide because then it would just get confusing.

New tomes for new gear. So everyone starts at zero for the new gear, all equal instead of some kicking off the new gear with capped tomes.

I never really spam farmed lolzergs, oops I mean hunts ^_^ So acquisition isnt too different for me.

I would be very surprised if they made lolzerg hunts again for the present tomes and the 120-130 upgrade items, Wasn't hard to see, being honest, it didn't play out as they planned ii, Bs for solo, A ranks for small/full party, S ranks for alliance size. It just turned into half the server lolzerging any and all with the follow up drama llamas screaming bloody murder becuase they missed out on a Hunt mob.

Well, hopefully SE learned that if you put something nice in world then it just gets destroyed by a horde of ravenous locusts XD

Well myth has been out since release? How about sol how long was it since release?
Myth was sooooo old ofc it would drop like mad from everything cuz its been there for the longest time.

Nicer things are good. When Soldiery was used to buy the highest items available and the time consumed to complete many dungeons for a low soldiery reward is the same reward which you will use now to buy atma books. Good thing they reduced the price of books so now I have to spend more time with lvl 90 gear. For the record, I had 400 soldiery and 1.4k myth, now I did the exchange and ended up with little less than 700 soldiery and 0 Poetics as far as I remeber

Were you even here for when they ended philosophy tomes? They didn't move the philosophy tomes up when they were phased out, they converted them into mythology tomes using some kind of algorithm and added the soldiery tome entry for you to start building from scratch. They just repeated the process for 2.4. So what? It's not like noone was able to earn up soldiery after the removal of philosophy. You should have no problems doing it again.

Not sure why not replace soldiery with poetics and keep mythodology.

They realize how bad of an idea adding so much to hunts drops. They had to reset it somehow, so we get a new currency where there is no more EZ equipment upgrades and they went back to what they were *supposed* to be in the first place. Sorry, no more EZ mode

They remove currencies because they want people to focus on i120/i130, using i100/i110 as a mean to do it, it's just a way to invalidate old gear. Replacing currencies was a good move and something I expect they keep doing past the expansion.

Well, they fail miserably at it then. New players don't have access to HM roulette because, and this is utter genius, they've MOVED the previous 'extreme' roulettes down to HM... you need ALL of them beaten to access it.

So, now players can only earn tomes in the lower, weaker dungeons. Getting 10 tomes here, 20 tomes there. PER RUN! The gear offered by these dungeons is weak as watered down lager, and insufficient to access the better dungeons in the first place.

As for the prices, I don't know if you are being intentionally oblivious but every time a thread like this pops up you are told they always increase the lower currency yield in later updates, it happened in previous patches, ignoring this fact won't make it go away.

Yes, but they didn't REDUCE the amount earned. I don't know if you're being intentionally ignorant of my post, but while later patches further increased it earning tomes was certainly easy enough from the start.

Furthermore, they added a new way of getting the ilvl 90 gear thanks to hunts, and at 40 seals for a body piece it was an absolute bargain. Now, you need 300 for a basic item, and the i90 gear trades have been placed in a dungeon which you need i90 to compete in! Utterly pointless.
