if i'm right yoshida did said that it was not planned anymore, and that they will bring change to the class/jobs system, we will need to wait the tokyo fanfest for more news apparently.
I do hope they will enlarge the current amount of Healers and Tanks. Adding just one of them will not change much, so queueing will still be a pain.
I'll be kind of miffed if we don't get a new Discipline of Magic out of this expansion. Already more Discipline's of War than Magic as it is, and the gun class is likely going to be War as well. I'm excited by the news we got from this interview though overall.
gunner is likely to be a healer, which falls in the "magic" category for me
well yeah I just assumed healer = DoM but looking at it again it doesn't make much sense considering chemistWhy would you figure that Gunner would be a DoM and not a DoW? It's not like Chemists in FFT were mages, or Alchemists in FFX-2, and that's what I'd assume the job is likely to be themed around. It's possible it'll be a DoW Healer and Dark will be a DoM Tank, just to check those boxes, but I kind of doubt it.

Another interview without any real information. Yawn. Please wake me up when he decides to give us some new info. Honestly, this doesn't even deserve a thread.
Real info won't happen outside fan festivals, Japan one is still to happen. And there it's where they planned on revealing new class(es).
@Topic: I still think it will be gun mage. Tuned as a healer class with a few dps magic skills ala FFX-2.
Ya, no kidding eh? How dare anyone post a thread that isnt full of complaints and vitriol. I'm so sorry your complaining was interrupted, but i'm happy to see it has not stopped you!
I don't think it'll be Gun Mage. It's a really minor class. There isn't anything wrong with Chemist just healing with Potions or the like anyways, though they'll obviously be more efficient and not rely on items in inventory, more like Alchemist in X-2. That and the guns shown so far seem pretty normal. It could be Gun Mage, but I have a hard time seeing it, and I can't see much reason to do that. Only issue I see is that Alchemist and Chemist are similar name-wise.
Only in the US version. In the JP version our chemist is called アイテム士, or "item user". So the distinction is there in the game's native tongue. Alchemists (the crafting profession) is called 錬金術師.
He has a point, though. There's little that can be gained from this interview other than the fact DRK will be slightly influenced by Berserk's protagonist. Granted, the questions asked weren't exactly stellar. Instead of asking what the deal was with DRK having no base class, I would have asked "is DRK an exception to your design philosophy for classes/jobs or a representation of a new direction for classes and jobs come 3.0?". That would have been a harder question to dodge, IMO.

* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
