How would you break it to someone that their DPS is awful?

100 and? A i115 player deals a FUCKTON more dmg than an i102...

They are above i100, so that's a given

Warrior tanks can do a pretty good dmg AFAIK. Can you post the iLvls of the player in question, the other DPSses and the tank?

Your questions are not pertinent to the issue. The issue was not that they were performing poorly relative to the other DPS. The issue was that they were underperforming given their gear (The comparison to the tank was just to highlight the matter), and that I was unsure of how to approach them about the matter.

I will probably contact the person later. Hopefully the response is favourable. They are generally pleasant to have around, good at their other job (tanking), and I personally have no desire to replace them over something that can be improved upon easily.

You suggest they MT for the cycle while your current MT plays dps. I mean it's only fair

We would have, but the current MT is an alt and is the static leader. They do not have any other classes leveled up or geared at the moment.
