You suggest they MT for the cycle while your current MT plays dps. I mean it's only fair"Awful", as in you can see so little enmity generated, and feel the phases pass noticeably slowly when the person in question is in the party that even without parsing, you know they are doing bad damage?
Suppose that the person in question is that awful of a DPS player, but is a great tank and would be a shame to lose over quibbles because the person in question can be touchy about criticism.
What would you do?
Newer players to MMO games will likely draw from their experiences playing FPS games, GTA, Dragon Age, Skyrim, etc.. and they will evaluate a MMO based on that criteria. But other online games (and offline RPGs) are designed to be picked up, played for maybe 5 months and then abandoned for when the next big game comes along. A Veteran MMO gamer knows that the experience of the game is stretched out over years, and if crafted properly, it leaves players with some of the best gaming experiences to be found anywhere. This is the problem most content is solo and you get your group action from a cross-server queueing tool. This is not like older MMOs where servers developed real communities. It's more like MacDonald's Drive-Thru, where you queue up, do your run, then never meet those people again.
Your questions are not pertinent to the issue. The issue was not that they were performing poorly relative to the other DPS. The issue was that they were underperforming given their gear (The comparison to the tank was just to highlight the matter), and that I was unsure of how to approach them about the matter. Are the other DPS players with a Novus?
100 and? A i115 player deals a FUCKTON more dmg than an i102...
They are above i100, so that's a given
Warrior tanks can do a pretty good dmg AFAIK. Can you post the iLvls of the player in question, the other DPSses and the tank?
I will probably contact the person later. Hopefully the response is favourable. They are generally pleasant to have around, good at their other job (tanking), and I personally have no desire to replace them over something that can be improved upon easily.
We would have, but the current MT is an alt and is the static leader. They do not have any other classes leveled up or geared at the moment.

Well T9 is not a weekly lock-out anymore so he can bring his main until you guys clear T9. If you want to band-aid the problem to get into FCoB.

1st I just noticed... Watch out for the parse postings.. The gods may be in a bad mood today and strike you down.
Ha was semi joking (I mean it is a serious potential solution for the short term but was mostly just saying it for a easy laugh)
But yea that is rough.. I know a few PLD like that and that includes mains.
So what class is he? I mean based on that one chart his dps is BEYOND bad. Drg/Mnk in that level of gear could pull that dps just standing there auto attacking (I'm serious btw... try it sometime)
If he is a caster... I can't even.

Nah, I'm done with this thread. I've gotten a decent amount of opinions from it already, so I don't feel the need to give out any more information.1st I just noticed... Watch out for the parse postings.. The gods may be in a bad mood today and strike you down.

Got ya. Really the best way I could see to do it would be to find a player who plays the same class (and does good dps) and say "hey Soandso has a new rotation that is putting out some really nice numbers you should hit him up about it"
Most dps classes have very simple rotations so unless hes a monk/drg/or nin optimizing his dps should be a pretty short conversation. Things get complicated with melee due to weaving combos so if hes not completing combos there is really no nice way to say "wth dude"
