Offering more inclusive options hurts no one.

Unless that option has to be called up for a specific scene. The signs actually do have a slight mechanical use, but selecting orientation would either do nothing, which people would complain about and would waste resources, or requiring writing/rewriting entire swaths of the game AND code for something that matters very little in the grand scheme of things.
Instead, they do nothing. They get the complaints, but waste no time.

OP, I'm sorry to say that SE cant account for everyone. Please just understand this and enjoy the game for what it is. Don't take offense. I'm sure SE has nothing against your specific sexual orientation.

I don't like how some people in this thread think that a non combatant female character = weak character. Just looking at the 3 City-States plus Mor Dhona, all of them have women as leaders. These are all strong cities and ruled well, with exception to Ul'Dah due to the corruption, but still a strong nation. Nanamo is still well respected by the people. These are all strong women who aren't involved on the front lines fighting.
On top of that Ishgard is ruled by a male and they are so scared they lock their gates to all. That seems like weakness to me...

Well, I'm implying that by selecting an orientation your quests & dialog would appropriately alter to accommodate your selection. Quest dialog already is pretty ambiguous, tho, so I imagine any changes to be minimal.

OP has a point. Imagine what it is like for a female player, having their character forced into various scenes where you either ogle ladies or get involved in sexually-suggestive scenes with them. It breaks character, it's awkward and arbitrary, and the game just doesn't seem to be aware of the player/character at all in such scenes.

I happen to be a female player, and I'm not bothered by it at all. Now would all of the responses for my characters (male & female) be what the game provided? No, but it is what it is and it's not enough to make me butt-hurt over it. That "oogling" well, I don't see it as my character "oogling" those female Miqo'te that are bathing at the Forgotten Springs. Would I have willing oiled up an old man? Not really, I don't even like rubbing my own feet.

Let's keep Tumblr out of these forums, please.

Do you know your history... specifically Final Fantasy history? Go back to Final Fantasy I. The ability Holy was localized in the Western market as Fade out of fears it would offend.
