SE Please Stop. Dialogue that Presumes My Sexual Orientation Breaks Immersion.

This is a Japanese game. They have a very different idea of sexuality and such than a lot of you. If you are going to play their game, you are going to need to get over yourself and accept it.
This is shown evident when Yoshi basically said they were forced to allow same-sex eternal bonds, which is why it's not called marriage and shouldn't be referred to such.

All of you sprouting bullshit about how oppressed women are in this game need to understand that the game itself comes from a different culture than your own (most likely). Stop victimizing yourself, because that's not even close to the intent of the developers.

I hope this thread is locked soon, we don't need this nonsense on here.

I'm straight. But at no point does that deter my ability to say that I think a particular man is handsome or could be considered attractive in my opinion.

Same, straight and I got no problem saying another guy is attractive. My girlfriend stops and looks at me I have to remind her "It's okay to agree with me...get use to it." and the world...keeps on spinning.

And it wouldn't bother me if they did a lot of other quests where it could show the male character showing some interest to another male character. In fact make the reward grade IV materia..and write the rest however you want. Just bring my Roegadyn back by at a decent hour. Remember, you take him..you feed him.

I don't think the issue is that SE is forcing you into anything but, rather than make the dialogue and interactions neutral and completely bland, they have to make a decision on these things. Clearly their decision was to go with the stereotypes. Now, if SE had UNLIMITED resources and what not, then they'd probably give players an infinite number of dialogue choices to choose from to suit your individual tastes. However, like everything else in this world, SE doesn't have those infinite resources. They make do with what they can. I, most definitely, don't want the dev teams working on superfluous things like this to ensure that everyone maintains their immersion. I want nice looking gear, more challenging fights etc...

Further more, when the devs come up with dialogue for new patches, they also have to keep in mind that their localization team is made up of SIX people. Koji told us at the Vegas fan fest that his localization team does the translation work of ONE kingdom hearts game for every PATCH we get. Them hiring more people also isn't a solution unless we players are willing to throw more and more money at them.

If we are going to start discussing things like this then, shall we just make it so we type in what our character would do? Say, for instance, my character who has beaten everything this game has to offer (save 2.4), is tired of Hildebrand's crap. So he, (being me) arcs his arm and backhands the highlander right across his smug face. Why can't I do this? Why is this not an option? It totally ruins "my" immersion, having some dimwitted fool be anyone with any more screen time than say, a coblyn who dies at the mere sight of me and my glorious Nexus.

OP has a point. Imagine what it is like for a female player, having their character forced into various scenes where you either ogle ladies or get involved in sexually-suggestive scenes with them. It breaks character, it's awkward and arbitrary, and the game just doesn't seem to be aware of the player/character at all in such scenes.

All OP did was simply make an observation, and was met with hostility. I guess I should just be thankful no one's calling OP a "game-hating social justice warrior"...

But your rights end where my feelings begin.

Anyway, it's obvious your character kneels down to sneak rather than to oogle anyone. Every time in every other past quest you and other characters always kneel down to avoid being seen, even through clearly see through bushes, and it always works. That's all there is to it.

At character creation we pick a "astrological" sign, which so far means nothing. I don't see why this game couldn't offer more choices & allow us to pick a character sexuality. The Dragon Age & Mass Effect series had great options for player characters.

It's also not unreasonable to this game to modify for the territory of the player base. Assuming the majority of forum members here are from North America, the game is already localized for this region. I'm sure there are elements of the game also localized for China, for another example.

Offering more inclusive options hurts no one.

Minfilia... Don't even get me started on that milquetoast. She's supposed to lead you, but she can't make a single decision without your help. I doubt she even clothes herself.

Minfilia is more of a politician who sends you out to kill stuff for her while she and Alphinaud do all the talking that you obviously cannot do. You almost never see her do any of that stuff because, again, you're too busy going out killing stuff. Remember that your character is a fighter, not a diplomat. Every time they bring you to a political meeting and whatnot, you're mostly there for insurance. If anything, without said useless NPCs, you wouldn't have gotten to where you are now, actually. Half the reason you're recognized as the amazing Warrior of Light is because the people of the greatest importance to the realm acknowledge you as such.

Besides, I wouldn't want to dress Minfilia either. Look at that thing, I don't even know how some of that stuff stays on! To say nothing about that butt window she's got going on there. I'm impressed that she can walk around in it with such ease.
