People lose track of time. The original rate was definitely not 1%. Why? Because people think they are completing 50 fates per hour when in reality most people average 10. Yes 10. That's one fate completed every 6 minutes. Traveling from one fate to another will average you 2 minutes, factor in a couple minutes of actual fate time, waiting for new fates to pop, etc. - you average around 10-15 per hour tops.

The average person finished the atma phase in 20-30 hours. If you do the math - it roughly comes out to a 5% drop rate. If it were a 1% drop rate, this thing would be averaging 100 hours for everybody.

The new drop rate seems to be around 15-20%.

People who calculate based on time spent on atmas don't know what they are talking about, amount of fates done are more accurate, before patch those unlucky ones usually took around 100 fates per atma, while most people were sitting around 50 fates per atma, and then there were the lucky ones with less than 10 fates per atma.

If you're wondering how do people know they did 100 fates, there's an achievement that keeps track of all fates you do (up to 3000).

People have been using the FATE achievements to track # completed (minus any they had before starting the Atma quest) and then dividing that out from the number of Atma they had, usually 8-12 to deliver a sufficient sample size, to find the % of FATEs that dropped an Atma for them. These rates were averaged out to roughly 1-2%.

The people doing serious data collection on Atmas were not using their imaginations as a test pool.

like the guy who opened a god knows how many site thread where he seriously stated that he did 3.000 fates during 1 week and got no atma?

The guy who claimed having done 3,000 fates in a week and not having seen an Atma is what we call an 'outlier'. We cull outliers from statistical data.

He also wasn't doing serious data collection.

The original drop rate definitely was around about 1%. There was a lengthy post here on the forums collating data from many many players to get to that number. This is precisely why it was such a problem; 1% meant it was very possible to never see an atma crystal after weeks of farming...

By the sounds of it the new drop rate is more than substantial.
