Originally on this game, crafting was pretty much an exclusive circle of gil circulation. The gil distribution was from crafters trying to level by paying crafters that finished leveling. Then those leveling crafters would make most of their income from other crafters. Crafting by itself served little purpose by itself, helping only the smaller populous that didn't run group content. With things like furniture, glamour, and progressive gear for raiders to meld for temporary needs, it's become a lot more useful to have on-hand. The old school days of relying on crafters for endgame needs is long gone, but crafting does still serve the universal goal that all crafters have in any game... to see your funds go up.

Glad to hear a response about this, and that steps are being taken to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Also good to see that you survived Fanfest Grekumah, Matt really needs to stop threatening to fire you guys on live air

Would have happened anyway. Just would have happened after the patch and not before.

Which is why I think BEFORE is better at least we have time to stock them up and not rushing and running to places to get the items or even craft them

Maybe to be fair, announce a fixed time that the patch notes will be released.

But you did? Then decided not to remove this information? There are people who took advantage of this information while the servers were up. I'm not boo hooing at all, but its careless nonetheless.

Please stop rushing things SE. It's not just patch notes.

The only thing this really did was drive the people with extra gil to buy up what they needed in advance inflating the price temporarily. Those people do not have any issues spending that kind of gil to be first in anything and would have bought it all up patch day regardless while the rest of us are at work. The early notes didn't really do anything long-term.

Maybe you should read the rest of the post. He justified why they didn't remove the information afterwards; if they didn't keep it up, it would have been spread by other third party site. Mistakes happen, the devs are not perfect almighty beings. Yes, they received their backlash and have apologised for it. Least we can do is be humble and accept their apology.

I think this is the main reason not to release them before the servers go down. The people who got a market advantage were those who realized the preliminary notes were up. By the time I realized they were, the market was already in chaos.

Obviously there's no way to make it fair for everyone, but saving the information until the servers are down is probably the best they can do.

That's why I said, state a fixed time that the patch notes would be up, so that people knows when it will be up and read it.

No different from what was before because there is a fixed time that your server will be up for you to visit the market board.

This time's "accidental" release of full patch notes made me realized that it would be really better pre-patch because there is time for you to prepare before hand. Things like Wolfram Ingots, Cashmere Cloth etc etc needs to be crafted and you can craft them before hand instead of wasting time after server is up to craft them.

I think the justification of it is just a lazy answer. Leaving it there only ensured that many more people saw it, when it could have been removed from the official site. Sure the information resided on other sites after being published, but I don't think as many people would have seen them if that had been the case.

    Also, policy? O.O

What's funny is that I really don't even care - as none of this affected me personally, but I can see what it did and I think its careless.
