again cecil didn't tank until he became a paladin. talk about people wanting to cherry pick. gogo strawman argumenttttttttttMight want to replay FFIV if you think that's a fact.
Cecil had more health and more defense than Kain ever did. Even as DRK. As DRK, he would use damage and would sacrifice himself to destroy the enemy before it harmed users; very tank like aspects.
The only reason that people don't associate DRK with a tank role is because FFXI skewed it with massive damage, which, originally, had tank like properties itself.
Slapping a shield on a character doesn't automatically make them tanks. Just look at classic D&D and the Warlord class for example. They are leaders that control battlefield. But they're not tanks.
People need to stop associating shields with tanks. Warriors are the prime example where tanks can live with damage and health pools (Hell, just look at 2.0's original warrior for a prime example.)
Strawman argument? Just look the stats up bud. Just shows how it follows typical tank stats. But whatever, keep QQing because they chose it to be a tank.
It doesn't destroy any mythos. Get over it.
Says the guy who thinks Cecil is the first DRK. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
FFII, III, Tactics, X-2, XI and serveral side titles with other naming conventions for the same class, all, are DRK DPS classes. While, he defends on Cecil, which also was more DPS inclined than a tank. LOL.
The tradition is that DRK are HP trade DPS classes. Get over it. DRK as a tank goes against FF history.
Tell me more about the tank-ability of Gil Toss in FF5 and Cyan in FF6.Says the guy who thinks Cecil is the first DRK. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Well, to be fair on Cyan, he WAS the tank for the small segment where you take him, Sabin the train suplexing badass and Shadow the ninja to the forest / phantom train / ocean trench. After that segment and a brief stopoff in a theatre(if you take him with you) he is whatever you build him to be thanks to the stat altering properties of magicite.
In one of my playthroughs i had RELM built as a tank for the lulz.
It is in fact you who needs to get over it, DRK has been confirmed a tank class and that is not going to change. I look forward to tanking as a DRK personally plus DPSing as a Ninja.Says the guy who thinks Cecil is the first DRK. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Im already over it. Samurai is going to be healer too. They can do whatever they want with classes, point is, when you build up a franchise and give your fans certain "traditions" don`t expect everyone to just accept it when you change them. No one liked NIN as a tank for a reason.
They can, and will do what they want, but that doesn`t make it right. DRK are DPS classes, period.
Gil Toss is a samurai skill and cyan was a samurai not a DRK, wtf with this post xD?
You said its against ff-history when samurai isn't a tank. so. What made the Samurai in FF5 and 6 more to a Tank than the Dark Knight? In these two games the Samurai only has offensive skills and if he defends, then only because the opponents strike so incredibly weak that even a BLM could tank.
