I've been intrigued with this bit of linguistics myself since we got the translation. However should look at the stanzas of all Dravanian/Draconian to maybe get an idea of syntax.

    Dragon part:
    Dis an sô
    Rus at hi
    Sal'jas afarr'a
    ma mor nâ, Eorzea !
    Translation :
    Our slumber disturbed
    My brothers wake
    Vengeance will be ours
    The saviors must perish !

Now the person who wrote this down in the derplander thread may have added the comma after na. however if the comma is there that may mean the sentence could also be read as: THEY must perish, the saviors. again this is looking into syntax. for example the first and third stanzas have translation to ours (Dis an So & Sal'jas afarr'a). I know that there is a bit of tweaking when these languages come into English. Look at Old Sylphic. I almost want to say it could be that its an order of subject possessive verb. But I need to hear more. the third stanza really wrecks it though because of it being 2 words (maybe).

Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?

Likely means Perish, from what Koji Fox said, and how he said it, that's the only thing I can think of.

Just to say, as everyone seems to be using the lyrics I posted, that Koji Fox didn't wrote the lyrics, he said it, so the dragon part is pretty much me writting down what it sounded like, there might not be a coma in there ^^. ( Also I'm French so I may have misunderstood something =)

No that's fine I actually took that into consideration. I think we may need to light the Fernwhales signal for an official transcript of those lyrics :3

I've haven't finished all of the Dragoon quests so I might be missing something but--the Elezan were the first of the five races in Eorzea, correct? Perhaps the Dragons/beast tribes/other Dravianians were in Coerthos prior to the Elezan. Eorzea might be a loanword from them prior to relations going to hell. After all its a bit more problematic to rename a geographical region, than say, sliced fried potatoes.

The whole "wandering tribes" bit in the pre Astral/Umbral era and their worship of primals sometimes makes me wonder if some of the beast tribes might predate the five races in Eorzea (Dragons as the "original" race in Eorzea!). . . and I'm getting a bit crazy. I'll go be quiet now before I start talking about my theories on primals.

Well Gamerescape has put up their Everything we know page in the news section and it looks like a better formation of the dragonspeak lyrics (no offense lololink )

    Dys an sohm in
    Rhos an kyn
    Sah djahs afah an
    Mah morn narr

    Which translates into:

    our slumber disturbed
    my brothers wake
    vengence will be ours
    the saviors must perish

I noticed in the page they omitted Eorzea not sure if this was intentional or not but I think we can use this still

So I spoke to Ferne at the London VIP event this evening and asked him about the word Eorzea in the Dravanian lyrics. His response was a little cryptic but he emphatically stated that Eorzea means Eorzea and has no special meaning in Dravanian.

He went on to say that Eorzea does mean something, as the names of all places typically have some sort of meaning, but he couldn't say what that was because it was important and would be revealed later in the story.

So yeah, Eorzea does not mean anything in Dravanian beyond being the name of a place.

Well that shuts that down! Chalking it up to an unspoken sentence subject or implied reference, I suppose. Then again, "no special meaning" doesn't mean it's not part of the etymolo-no, no, no. Chalking it up to an unspoken sentence subject or implied reference, lol.

Pleased to be looking forward to it.

hmmm I'm thinking the word an in dragonspeak may make the word preceeding it into its opposite.... based on where it was placed in stanzas 1 and 3
