Well, in this case, at least, you can always just abandon the duty before the item drops. I agree, though - there's no good reason why a player shouldn't be able to "downgrade" their lot to a "Pass". I'd even argue that downgrading from Need to Greed should be a thing.Scenario 2:
I was stupid and half-asleep and hit greed on an armor that dropped in Syrcus Tower when I was actually aiming to get Sands of Time from later bosses. Not everyone hit pass immediately, so there was a few seconds for me to realize my mistake and could have passed before I received the item. However, the "pass" button was no longer available.
