I worry about self-entitled defeatists fragmenting our community and endlessly whining until developers caves into their demands. And at the end of the day, it's not going to be enough for you; nothing will ever be enough for you. Because you perpetuate yourself as a victim, rather than as a self-actualizing individual.

Games are based on merit, and advocating that it instead conform to your proclivities is not only an affront to this game, but to the entire medium. You have the same opportunity to participate in the game as everyone else. If you can't achieve something within the game, then you're the one primarily at fault.

That said, I can recognize the practical merits of difficulty adjustment as content gets steadily phased out, and the adjustment doesn't bother me when performed for good reason. But it should not be a measure taken readily. I'm not saying that it is, but there are more than a few very vocal players greedily clamoring for it, and I can't help but wonder why. It's not a lot of players, and I wouldn't say it's the majority of the players in favor of difficulty adjustment. However, I find it prudent to address them sooner, rather than later.

Make no mistake, I am NOT advocating out of my own self-interest; I am advocating out of the best interests of the game, as I see them.
Feel free to put forth your own ideals about the game, but don't misrepresent my position.

It's about challenging yourself.

Belittling what people care about is much better? Games are different things to different people.

This thread is disappointing. Why can't people have a reasonable conversation without insults? Why do people carry all their prejudice into this thread and open up with insults? Why can't people read a some of the posts before insinuating what everyone is saying through the lenses of their prejudices? It's sad. Maybe I expect too much from people.

There's a difference between being an enthusiast and being a poopsock. Anyone can be an enthusiast; for example: I'm very enthusiastic about avoiding y'all no-fun-allowed-everything-is-a-competition types that seem to plague almost every MMO with your whiny "elite club" vitriol over "casuals" being able to enjoy the same things you do. You can mock us for wanting to share content, and we can damn well mock you for existing. Or did I miss the point?

And for some the challenge is to resist the temptation of being first, and sending a signal to SE that they do not agree to lockout. So they patiently wait 6 months for SCOB to be more accessible. That is not my position but I can respect those that do.
