If you did the event and got the achievement you can reclaim it from the salvager like any other event item. Otherwise, Yoshida stated last year it was ONLY like this in order to give the people who did not play FFXIV 1.0 the ability to gain the Summer, halloween and xmas event items as most of the event items in game are from 1.0.

It was never going to stay that way permanently, which is why the salvager sells them incase you accidentally toss the items (or toss em for space because too lazy to use the armoire.)

I see your points Merle. I actually half made up that storyfor v2.0. . Most of it was just the standard 1.0 "nothing will fix this" rehashed for satire. I can also agree with your view of the cash shop. I didn't even know they were last year's items until the day after it was announced, I thought it was 1.0 holiday stuff. It is terrible to do that, hopefully SE will take comments like this into mind and not add previous year's events into real money situations. My biggest issue is that people believe this is the introduction to "pay to win" when there's not a drop of that. Unlike WoW, "preorder our expansion and get a level 90 character!"

And yes, Violyre, that's precisely what it scares me: "pay to win". If is just for vanity items... i'm ok with it (my wallet will regret it, though...), but if this becomes "buy X to have an extra buff", etc... i'm out of FFXIV... and it will make me sad since i love this game

Let's not forget people guaranteeing that people will leave if people cant beat coil and since they're the majority, XIV will die. 1 year+, still many people who hasn't beaten t5 WITH the echoes and nerfs (conflag and dread knight hp was nerfed iirc), still lots of them around apparently.

I beat T5 a couple weeks after 2.2 and it looks like I'm gonna be beating T9 after 2.4 too so I'm definitely not one of those 'hardcore elite savage raider'. Personally find people who are flinging words at the 'elitists' to be at least just as ridiculous with a lot of their arguments.

This isn't going to win me or the OP any friends, but by the Twelve, this is the best advice currently on the board.

To clarify:

There will always, always, always be terrible players with super awesome gear - whether or not their boyfriend got them the stuff, they paid to get the stuff, bought account, or just plain stopped caring.

There will always be players who are richer than you and have rarer sh!t.

There will always be players who are better than you, without cheating.

There will always be shinier, better, more fun servers/free companies/parties on the other side.

Hype Train always lies. Enjoy the ride.

Weekly lockouts. RMTs and botters. The lightning strikes lore-breaking shenanigans. Bringing back said shenanigans for a third time. Fire II not being called Firaga.

Honestly at this point just about any decision made by the devs has been heavily debated and been the cause of many jimmies to be rustled (to use your words lol). You've got your work cut out for you
