Legit Question for those against Cash Shop - Mog Station

Why has no one started a protest thread for the Dalamud/Bahamuth/Enterprise minions? Dang it, you've gotta pay a soundtrack/book price for them!

Because you aren't paying for the minions, they are just added in as a bonus. You are paying for the merchandise. I don't need a subscription to read the book or listen to the soundtrack. However in the cash shop, it's double dipping... you need a sub AND to buy the content.

Also, iirc... those minions are limited time, like a year until the codes don't work.

Devs of MMORPG arn't learning from misstakes of other MMORPG's devs, they all have to do the misstakes at least once (and some even repeat the same misstake over and over)

This is not the same thing at all.
Those, are more like an extra reward for those who's bought those things.
And it's also something to convice a little more players to buy this.

Somewhere in that merchandise purchase there probably was an amount allocated to cover the minion design. That's how these things work in terms of product/price breakdown.

Right now, I don't find it a huge deal, however if these were supposed to be veteran rewards that were pulled at the last minute to throw in a cash shop, that is meh.

I think people are just wary because every time they do something like this, everyone is just kinda apathetic about it. If they see this is working they're gonna start pushing a bit harder each time adding more things that might blur the line.

I mean, how many more people would be upset if they no longer gave people new hairstyles and just threw it into the shop with no other way to get them?

I'm not accustomed to race/gender change being something that is made readily available in most games, after you've made your character. I also have never felt the need for one, as I am generally happy with my character(s). What I feel more strongly against is how FFXIV discourages having alt characters -- you have to pay extra for more than one character per server, and there is no reliable way to transfer gil/items between characters. I feel this design is very mean-spirited and dismissive of SE, but of course you would probably just tell me I am "playing wrong" or "do not understand the game."

If race/gender change is offered at all, I think it should be obtainable in-game, and not in some outside cash shop -- at least not in a game with a subscription fee. I just don't happen to care about that very much.

As for Retainers: yeah, I am against those being sold in a cash shop too. They are already a poor excuse for a character bank, but having to buy more with real-world cash is despicable. Which is why I have not bought any.

I don't know what your point is anyway, OP. It is like you are trying to say "If you didn't complain about this other thing, then you should shut up about the cash shop and like it." That is not how the world works.

That is highly subjective. I have a friend who just cares for IG completion and offers me the RL merchandise that comes with it all the time.

I'll not like this.
I like show my Apkallu, or Opo-Opo, or Succubus, or any other minions like this, becoz it's rare, becoz I worked for it, not only becoz it's cute, even if beeing cute is a part of the reason why i likke them.
Even if the minion in Cash_shop where sold for cheap, like 0.5€, or 1€, I wont like this, it's like " check, I payed 1e for this cute minion... " doesn't feel the same effect

Sure, but that doesn't change what Square is actually selling. It's like someone who buys a Happy Meal for the toys. You can't say McDonalds is selling a 10c toy for the $5 (or w.e) the meal costs. It's a bonus item.

We shouldn't trade in Ifs. we know how they're handling it now, and what they told us they plan to do with it. that's as far as we need to think until they do otherwise.
There will be no game changing equipment, no pay to win.
Why? Because they specifically said there won't be.

Every cash shop introduced to subscription MMOs in history was vanity only. None of them stayed vanity only. History tells us that a vanity cash shop ALWAYS becomes P2W. I've never seen one that remained vanity only. Never. It is, therefore, perfectly reasonable for us to assume this cash shop will not remain vanity only, especially when Yoshi has been called out on lying and misleading the community on other occasions (RE: housing).
