Legit Question for those against Cash Shop - Mog Station

There were people making threads against retainers, yes, especially people denouncing the silly amounts of items being pushed into regular inventories instead of key items as a way to promote their service. The justification for them was "well XI had mules too so it's the same thing!" and "pfff they aren't P2W I'm sure winning a lot of Sweet Cream!".

Fantasia falls under the umbrella of basic MMO services alongside name changes and server transfers, so it was less of an issue and everyone got at least one free, though people did show some disappointment about them being that expensive and about them being removed from the one time item restore service, and that got defended too. Even back then people were calling the Mog Station a thinly veiled cash shop, I know because I was one of them, how quick some people forget.

For those who are all for the cash shop because its just for vanity, I tell you this.
It would be no different if I went and bought gil from a RMT right now just so I could get the blue bird minion I really want. I mean its just for vanity so its ok right.

No matter who the seller is RMT is RMT, real money for in game items.

And before you mention the collectors edition mounts, I got a flag and an art book that I feel was worth the extra 20 dollars.

That being said I don't have a problem with the cash shop, I will be first in line if they put the blue bird minion on it. All I'm saying is stop being delusional, It's a form of RMT plain and simple. Also I don't partake in RMT from the spammers. I just thought I'd throw this out there for those who missed it as it flew by your face.

Fantasia is basically like a server transfer. It's a service, rather than an actual item. It isn't content, it's something that can be done to your account. Retainers I guess you could argue against that, and I am sure some people have. The main gripe here is that this begin a precedent where items which would have been developed for the game (and accessible to all bar requirements to get it in-game), are now being developed for the sole purpose of the cash shop. Funny enough, this is the same argument that Yoshi used against F2P games, where devs spent more time trying to make content to sell, rather than content to be played.

Cash shops in P2P games can be a cancer. I recall EVE Online had a whole shitstorm because they wanted to add a cashshop, sectioning off "vanity" content like officer's quarters (player housing) until the playerbase rose a stink and they added it in the next expansion.

Yeah it was a small flag with a BLM on it. I didn't get a fancy case though. I did get a dvd, I just haven't looked at it as I was to excited to play the game so its sat in the box ever since. Maybe we got different things because I per-ordered the PS4 version?

idk how I feel about a cash shop. Mostly I feel like they are already getting money from subs. It doesn't really seem right to charge for extras, instead of putting them in the game.

Meh, I'm not thrilled that they are basically putting some minions and mounts behind Pay walls....but tbh, at least for now, the very thought of paying to own something solely for 'look at me!, I have a.....' reasons is a HUGE turnoff. And basically anyone I see in game with said minions or mounts I'll just think 'someone seems to have money to throw away'. I mean, if that's how they want to spend their real life gils, more power to them....but it's just wasteful to me personally. In the past, at least 'pay for' mounts/minions were attached to tangible real-life items. IE Collectors Editions, Music Cd's, 'friend recruitment' etc. But just like everyone knows if you have a dalamund minion, you bought a music CD, people will know if you have these new items, you paid for them....and I am not comfortable with people knowing that kind of detail about my account.

At least with fantasia's/retainers there was some sort of player 'service' to them....and semi-private. No one else really has anyway of knowing how many retainers you have, nor do they have any tangible way to know how many fantasia's you've used/had

Speak for yourself.. I've been protesting retainer sales since they were announced. I don't care about fantasia since it's strictly vanity whereas retainers give people (mainly crafters) a significant advantage on the market board.

Because, as people already pointed out above you: You get 2 retainers per character as it is. You don't need them and can already obtain them in-game. If you feel you need more than 2, that's what alts are for.

Except you can't send items between characters on the same account cause you can't friend yourself so the alt method doesn't work.

Why has no one started a protest thread for the Dalamud/Bahamuth/Enterprise minions? Dang it, you've gotta pay a soundtrack/book price for them!
