I feel like if they are going to do this sort of thing, it should be completely unique content. The minions feel like they were intentionally held back and should have been givent to players when Minfilia & Thancreed minions were introduced. The Slepnir mount seems odd since they are adding an Odin fight. . .Meh. It's just vanity, so whatever. When SE tested the waters with FFXIII-2, it was pretty much a given every game they make from here on out will have DLC/cash shops. EA infected them.

Thats because people arent willing to go without to make a point. They may bitch, but in the same breath they'll click on the "buy" button. Some of it is simple peer pressure, since no one wants to be "that" friend that doesnt have the shiny new toy.

If you really dont want a cash shop in this game, dont buy anything they offer, otherwise, you're only a hippocrite and supporting something you supposedly claim to hate.

That cause the people on the forums are actually small portion of the actual player base.

Personally I'm not going to cry about vanity items like mounts/minions going up for sale. At the end of the day they are optional and nobody is forcing you to buy them.

What I do have a problem with are things like retainers being sold, these types of services provide a significant advantage on the market board if you're an avid crafter and to me that's not right. I understand that won't change now but it still bothers me that they are selling them.

I'm only worried that they'll add more pay to win things to the cash shop like instant max level and items sellable for gil (official rmt essentiallly). I know they say that they will not add pay to win but in my experience from other games, the devs idea of pay to win is often a lot different than mine.

Sadly all it takes is a few people with too much money to throw around to make cash shops a success. No matter how many people you piss of with cash shops, the spending-happy ones will make up for the lost subscriptions. The crappiest F2P games with the craziest rip-off deals can survive ages on a small playerbase, because there just is a fraction of people who'll throw their money at the developers as long as the developers keep taking it.


Someone sitting on their Sleipnir won't be able to think to themselves "I earned this."
They should think "Micro transactions and RMT exist because of people like me."

I remember that Lightning Fate, with that unique, never-again hairstyle, weapon and outfit you could get. They said that would be the ONLY time we'd be able to get that stuff... aside from, you know, that OTHER time, when they brought back the whole event just recently.

Oh, they also said that Personal and FC housing would be separate and that Personal housing would be a lot more affordable.

You really shouldn't believe everything they say at this point without doubt. At any point in the future, they can go and say we "misinterpreted" what they said before. Worked fine with housing.

Fans of this development team will believe anything that Yoshi-P says. 6 months down the road when they're paying 15 bucks a month subscription and having to pay to get into dungeons they'll still be like "if you don't like it don't buy it" "yoshi-p for president" "don't let the door hit you on the way out!"
