Derplander Update (Heavens Ward Teaser)

The legend of derplander begins in 1.0 where he fought valiantly to save us from the uncoming Garleans forces. Louisoix sent him and his companions into the future while shield others from the oncoming megaflare. Derplander found himself in a weird new world with his companions! As he realized it was the future he sought to investigate and help the GC(s) fight off Garleans and investigate dungeons, areas, and coil. However... the truth behind Derplander has just been revealed.


He was actually a Dragoon Main with i160 AF + Relic 2. He has been holding back this entire time to challenge himself to be a better adventurer!

The armour the Dragoon is wearing is the "AF2" set that was shown many months ago. The name was "Dragon Knight", adirect translation of "竜騎士", which is Dragoon in Japanese.

So it's highly unlikely it's another job. Especially when it comes to fighting Dragons, why would someone take another job than the one specialized for it.

I knew it looked a little different from the AF gear, but I figured that was artistic license at work. Awesome.

Only the last four words of the third line, and first word of the fourth line, do I have any doubts about. I don't think I'll contribute much to guessing at lore from this song, but it certainly sounds very Ishgardian, what with souls going Heavensward (to Halone's Hall), and the talk of only one path.

Also is it just me or does Derplander just got at least 5 years old ( he already was older in 2.0's videos than 1.0 )

Oh, thanks! I checked out the GamerEscape podcast, but I didn't have time to watch the panel--too many papers to write, too little time to watch, haha. I'll get on updating things now =D

Cool story, Mardel... ilvl 160 and Relic lvl 8 ("Nebulus?") sounds about right. And yes, under normal circumstances I would totally agree with your speculation.

However, I think he decided to become an "Advanced Dragoon" at Ishgard after his crew ditched him from their Second Coil static... guess they insulted him and mumbled something about WAR not being able to crank out enough DPS.

Funny enough Derplander ... and the term "Derpgoon". Mabe SE was like you know... we could make this work. Derp Fire Dive!

As to what someone posted earlier, I think the rest of his party is the new jobs too!

In the fanfest panels and a lore train podcast interview Koji said that because of Louisoix, Eorzea was saved from there fate, this being, total destruction and annihilation that is expectable from the end of a era by the cataclysm, like it's proven from previous eras, with only a few survivors from the ones the Archons could save (still a bit misinformed about this part, sorry xD).

What i want to get with this is that because there's a large group of servivors from the Dalamud moon falling,it changed something that needs to be correct... and why i say this?

Yes, I thought it was strange too, either there was a mistake or Eorzea means something in dragon language, if it's the case then I think Eorzea means Savior, as Eorzea is the land "Blessed by gods" and the warriors of lights are blessed by the crystal.

Why Eorzea?

This is what is going through my head. Is the Word Eorzea Dravanian in origin? looking at the syntax of the last line: Saviors is translated from Eorzea. How in the heck this word spread I just don't know. Do Ishgardians scowl when saying this word too?
