Your daughter sounds like she has tons of pressure at home.I see most everyone raising the point that why do those of us who've cleared it really care if its nerfed since we won't even be doing it anymore. That it shouldn't take away from the accomplishment that we have achieved, and while that's a very fair point, its just not true to some. Should they just hand out Super Bowl rings to everyone? Maybe "Billy Joe" doesn't have time to practice as much as the rest of us, but he shouldn't be left out right? Its this mindset nowadays that hard work and practice and dedication to something means nothing because every kid in little league gets a trophy for participation. I have a daughter, and she played baseball this year, and she got a trophy even though her team came in 4th and it frustrated me. It not about looming over other people and looking down on them. Its just that we put in the work, and were able to accomplish something that very few have.
You need a children-psychology book. Really...I never said anything that I was frustrated with my daughter. I didn't bash her and of course I praised her. I'm frustrated with the system. All the kids get trophies for participating, and I'm against this train of thought. It should teach kids that if they didn't get a trophy, and they are upset about it and really want one, then they need to work hard and practice and get better.
(Hard work and effort are also an achievement that should be rewarded, not just being on the winning team)
LOL you think awarding children for every non-achievement is good for their mental/psychological health? Well, you're allowed to think that, if you want, but don't act like you KNOW what's best.
I'm with Garotte14 on this one. The self-esteem movement was a tremendous failure, the way I see it; it breeds complacency and self-entitlement.
I'm of the belief that people should either accept their limits, or shatter them. You don't pretend they don't exist. Or do you think denial is healthy?

So we should go back to the bad old days of destroying children's psyches by calling them "losers" if they dare to not win in a game? That mentality makes the perfect case for parenting licenses.LOL you think awarding children for every non-achievement is good for their mental/psychological health? Well, you're allowed to think that, if you want, but don't act like you KNOW what's best.

Or, how about saying something more along the lines of "That was pretty good, but you can probably do better."
It's not as delusional as "OMG 6th place you are the best!", nor is it as damaging as "You are a worthless loser."
Not everything has to be black and white.
Actually; there are many modern theories that the self-esteem movement actually did the opposite of what you describe. Around their early to mid teens, the younger generation began to understand that the praise they were given was meaningless, and thus made them unable to distinguish what contributions they were making to their environment were meaningful or not.
This, coupled with being raised into a failing economy, destroyed their self-esteem and thus their motivation to do much, lacking both a sense of worth in their work both psychologically (through comprehensible esteem feedback,) and materially (through the majority of modern wage labor being literally incapable of meeting the US' own bare minimum fair rent requirements.)
I still do the old content (t1-t5, HM primals, old dungeons, guildhest, EX primals, etc.. ). Players who are farming light for their nexus are still doing the old HM primals during bonus time. My queue times as a DD for those fights are less than 5 minutes in the duty finder, so I guess there is a still a lot of people doing the old content. There are plenty of people still doing old content.
So two children take a math test, both studied a little, but one studied harder. The one that studied harder got an A and the other gets a D, but according to your philosophy they both deserve the same grade or reward even though one put in a minimal amount of effort? I'm sorry, I really don't understand this mentality.
That's not what she meant and you know it. It's bad enough this thread got derailed over how children should be raised. So two children take a math test, both studied a little, but one studied harder. Disregard if someone already mentioned something like this:
I wouldn't mind if all the "tough" content had an easier version for the people who want to see it but just simply aren't as good at the game as some others. The easier version could have lesser rewards. This way there is still the "tough" version for those who enjoy the challenge, and something more accessible for those who do not enjoy the challenge.
Maybe kinda like the Raid Finder versions of WoW's raid dungeons.
