    Do NOT make the same mistake as FFXI.

    You know why I say this in the subject heading?

    Because there are people looking for inordinately LARGE numbers of a specific class, for Dzemael Darkhold. This is the kind of pigeonholing we need to avoid for classes.

    I saw someone shouting in Ul'dah for three archers, for his party at Dzmael Darkhold. That is almost half a full party. There is something wrong with this picture, in terms of class balancing.

    Does anyone remember when Dragoon was not loved in FFXI? Does anyone remember when Dark Knight was not loved in FFXI?

    If this is the direction FFXIV is taking, then I want no part of it.

    I do not want to relive my experiences in FFXI in XIV.

    3 archers prolly 2 con and 1 glad. but this is what people wanted, when they said unique, they more meant i want no one to be able to do anything unless the top rated classes are there, and of course they would be selecting those classes to play.

    I saw the same thing too, was pretty uninspiring. CON/CON/CON/ARC/ARC/ARC/GLA/GLA.

    If you aren't aware, one of those bosses in the r45 dungeon has a moveset with slightly stacked odds against melee. It's tough out through it or go the easy mode, getting most of your party as ranged classes except for the tank.

    funny thing is everyone saw this coming, well, the mp changes changed the equation from thm thm arc arch glad glad to con con. i think peregrine had pointed it out, and people were like nevar!

    It's imbalanced, and SE is notorious for horrible balancing. If stuff remains this way, the only thing that is going to happen is that SE is going to nerf all the bosses and just make them ezmode for everyone.

    and yeah this is why peregrines arch rants were fairly accurate, it seems developers always make content that is most easily ignored via ranged attack skills, without increasing the risk for rangering. By adding the prohibitive cure costs as the main difficulty factor, being able to do dmg from a range without taking dmg has only increased in value in high end content.

    Before, since Cure was aoe, melee werent sucking mana dry when NMs have aoe skills.

    ahhhhh why cant they see the obvious directions of things when they make these changes, and what sort of playstyles they are encouraging.

    People want them because some of the fights are VERY melee unfriendly, which needs to be tweaked, or we need to find more competent melee players.

    It bothers me when a game ends up doing this. I want to play what's fun, not what you need to clear the easiest path through content.

    Blizzard (WoW) is going through some similar issues. Their recent Firelands patch has people going on about many of the boss fights being unforgiving on melee and less unforgiving on ranged. How Blizzard replied to that? "It's a class issue, the fights themselves are fine."

    This is not what a game should be doing for it's players.
