Again, Yojimbo doesn't have to be the same one from FFX.
Just because the same Gilgamesh recurs in the franchise doesn't mean Yojimbo has to follow the same rule.
Besides, Arch-Nemesis is more suitable anyway.

Yeah but he still would have to come from FFV and somehow ended stranded on the rift and land on Eorzea at the same time as Gilgamesh.
As enemies, yeah I could see Gilgamesh try to steal one of his neet katanas. But I would also like to see him try to kick odin's *ss to get the Zantestuken![]()
First, Yojimbo is from Zanarkand and not from Genji clan
Second, Yoshi-P said that a cameo character would never come if they're dead in their own game. Yojimbo being dead for lore reasons (he's a Faith), he won't come in FFxiv.
True. And why not! I could see an arch-rival or brother of Gilgamesh hunting for him across space & time for various reasons.
Sounds kind of epic actually, and to have finally found him after ages and through having searched countless dimensions... truly awesome story-potential.
Refer to the numerous times I've said it doesn't have to be the *same* Yojimbo in this thread.
You can keep ignoring it, Yojimbo is still dead in his game, thus won't come. Same reason Aerith, Sephiroth, or Kefka (for example) will never ever make an appearance here. It doesn't matter if it's an *other* yojimbo or not.
If the name "Yojimbo" really comes in the game, it will most probably be like Valefore : something totally unrelated to his past appearance (regular mob or unimportant NPC)
You're missing the context of SE's post with regards to player death.
Surely characters like Aerith won't make a return due to their plot relevance & emotional impact of their passing.
Ones like Yojimbo don't qualify.
Using that argument, Alexander couldn't return because he died in FFIX.
A few Cid's have also died...
Contextually, they don't want characters returning with whom we made a major attachment to or were hugely story relevant & their arc/chapter closed (Kefka).

He's also dead in FFXIV. The one at the top of Syrcus Tower is a clone created by Amon, and the entire tower was time-locked until the fall of Dalamud.
In essence, the FFXIV version of the Crystal Tower inhabitants are alternate universe versions.
Xande from FFIII was never ruler of the Allagan Empire and neither Doga nor Unei were heirs to that legacy. Xande from FFIII was the apprentice to a wizard along with Doga and Unei (who were his peers, not his descendants), and Xande was granted the gift of Mortality by his master, Noah. Also, where Amon was just a lesser crony to Xande in FFIII, in FFXIV he's Xande's top scientist solely responsible for the clones of Doga, Unei, and Xande.

Exactly, and they're talking about a theoretical Eorzean version of Yojimbo. Not the same one that appears in FF10.He's also dead in FFXIV. The one at the top of Syrcus Tower is a clone created by Amon, and the entire tower was time-locked until the fall of Dalamud.

Oh, I was never arguing that there could never be a FFXIV alternate universe counterpart to Yojimbo. Just that he wouldn't be related to Gilgamesh as a brother nor be Gilgamesh's biggest rival. Gilgamesh isn't even from FFXIV natively. From what I gather from Final Fantasy lore, he was actually born in the world of Type-0 and his travels have taken him through other Final Fantasy games such as FFI, FFIV: TAS, FFV, FFVI, FFVIII, FFIX, FFXII, FFXIII-2, and of course, FFXIV.
I mean heck. Think about Yugiri and where she comes from. There will very likely be an expansion pack coming soon, be it the one coming up or the one after where the players will be able to head to Doma, and it is very likely that Yojimbo or someone similar will be there. Whether it will be an identical Yojimbo to the one in FFX or a variant, I don't see Yojimbo coming up until the story arrives in Doma proper.
