    Yeah, in an 8 page thread, let's dwell on that one aspect of 1.0 that people have mentioned and continue talking about how difficult it can be to converse. :/

    1.0 is destroyed by dragon king no such thing as 1.0 it died with the old man with the cane.

    Also player base killed it, if they supported the first game to begin with then it would of survived but since that didn't happen it failed.

    Yes it would be awesome to have a more open world adventure feeling but it will not happen they aren't gonna waste their time to get rid of everything they built to go backwards.

    Plus I didn't like a few things in FFXIV original like the running and sliding, the battle system and I didn't like the fact that sometimes when riding the boat I fell into the ocean or bumped a table and disconnected or monsters getting stuck in the middle of your body spinning.

    other than that the game was solid.

    correct me if I'm wrong but I swear I remember the original announced release date for XIV was supposed to be either in 2012 or 2013(I couldn't find the announcement after quite a while of searching so I only have memory to go off of), they were foolish to release it in 2010 either way.

    Yeah, they stated it was originally TBA 2010 and potentially into 2011 or later given the dual development of FFXI's Wings of the Goddess. Given enough time they would have realized using the crystal tools engine as well was a bad decision, since it was still early enough to develop a custom engine or switch over to say unreal at that point, or even XI's engine with modifications.

    personally I still think they could have avoided a lot of problems by just using the Unreal Engine or some other well established game engine. XI's engine might have been a bad idea since it was a based on the playonline launcher wrapper that was designed for the PS2.

    I think the Unreal Engine would have been the best choice givin the game and it would have made their lives easier. but since it is someone else's product I think SE felt that would be admitting defeat.

    It released in 2009. I quit the game in December of 2009 and started playing again in February of 2010.

    Hmmm... the alpha if I recall correctly started in Apr '10, and the game finally released on Sep 22 of 2010, I think you are remembering incorrectly.

    this doesnt change the fact that the game was released unfinished. with a game engine that took too much for that time and plant pots that had as much graphics wise as character models.

    the mistakes were SE was hoping that more people would have systems that could handle that version of crystal tools engine and they had too many people working on things separately hoping that dropping it all together would work.
