I was referring to the people who claim that reviewers and fans who hated 1.0-1.23 had "no idea what they were talking about" when they gave the game negative press. "It's a beta/it's not done yet" can't be the cop out excuse every time.
It can't be and I agree though for people that do not want to acknowledge reality, it is indeed an easy cop out.
It's been the same with ARR. "It's just re-released give them time", "It's not even the first patch yet give them time", "They're working on the PS4 version give them time", "They're working on the Chinese version give them time", "They're working on Fanfest give them time", "It's not even the first expansion yet give them time", "They haven't dropped PS3 support yet give them time", etc.
But what exactly are we giving them more time to give? PS4 version came out, Chinese one is coming, Fanfest is happening, First expansion will come and set some directions of the game in stone. (I know these aren't your comments and quotes just I'm replying to it btw and when I used 'you're' under this it's not you're like YOU just a general statement.)It's been the same with ARR.
I'm not trying to cop out any 'excuses' for SE, the game is fun when you're not giving it expectations. Gold Saucer is a good example, can Gold Saucer end up really fun? Yep! it can.
Can it ever live up to the full blown expectations to follow the original Gold Saucer that a diehard FF7 fan who really loved it can have? No, Not ever. Set yourself up for least SOME disappointment.
Things like above is things that happens a lot. Atma, Hunts, Housing. All things hoped to be a way they never turned out to be in the end. This isn't completely SE's fault for us hyping ourselves up in hopes that it will be great and how we all individually picture it. (Not every one artist paints with the same stroke of the brush.)
Is it bad that we do? Not at all, we're not at fault for being excited for a game we really want to see go a good direction but at the same time when things are done like that then expect to be disappointed in the future.
Also keep in mind that everyone has different views, what can not be one persons gamer taste can be another gamer cup of tea easily. FFXIV does have points where it's a complete utter worth of $%#& like all the instanced and solo-able content that you can finish very fast at a non-super casual rate however there's also good sides to the game too as with any game.
I personally would love to see 1.0 just to experience the game that some players did love but I wouldn't trade in 2.4 for 1.0 other than just to see the view of another despite stuff I've heard from former 1.0 players about the early version of it.
Edit: and when I say Solo-able, I mean you don't need friends for anything. You just need strangers in a DF, not saying that's bad but you really don't need anyone unless it's raiding content or extremes which even then... you really don't need anyone once extremes come out in DF with echo buff or raids end up like first coil is right now.
