If SE put up one server of final fantasy 14 1.0 would you go back?

I think folks are more attached to the memories they made in the past iteration of the game; the adventures, the friends, and whatnot.

Once you take off the nostalgia glasses, it was simply a bad game. Sure, there were a few quality gems of things here and there but all in all it was just not up to the job.

Nah, I wouldn't play 1.0 again.

as a 2.0 player who pre-orders the 1.0 ps3 version, i would go on to have a look of 1.0 but then return to balmung on 2.0 and play with friends

I just have to wonder...if 1.0 had better servers, better graphics optimization and endgame at launch...would we be here discussing this?

I loved 1.0 and I think it would be cool if the game was back up. They introduced a lot of patches that made the game very fun to play, and the battle system was much better than 2.0's imo. Don't flame me, just my opinion.

Yeah I probably would if it were pre-jobs. The thing I loved about 1.0 was the cross-classing system and how the focus was more on "i like this type of weapon but these types of abilities so i'll cross them over and play like this!"

I agree if they did something different to FFXI and got rid of the ps2 support and 360 support then moved them to next gen consoles and did little tuning, graphic enhancements changes or even a overhaul keeping the models then adding some more races even keeping the world as it is but updated with new things to do.

I probably be interested though SE needs to throw out a guide you can get lost in that game if you are gone too long.

You realize this goes both ways, right? Just because you didn't like 1.23 doesn't mean it was broken. 1.23 had a lot more engaging and strategic combat system from 2.0. The only actual things broken with it were the server structure and it's graphics optimization which didn't need a complete remake of the core mechanics to fix.

I would love to play the 2.0 content that was designed for the 1.23 system. It had actual character and could have been much better than ARR if they had devoted their entire team to fleshing it out instead of just a few people keeping it running while ARR was being developed.

THEY (SE) don't have to. If you Google it - you will find that the game is actually still up (although on a private server and not 100% complete - but it can be played/visited again.)
