The Lambs of Dalamud also dispelled the berrier in Amdapor keep. Seems like they're concentrated in Gridania and probably end up beimg responsible for more dungeons we gotta clear in that area

Phantasy Star II with Nei, which was released before VIIHe. Killed. Aeris.
No one cares about his plans to become a God through world desolation. That's petty crime, happens all the time. A real yawnfest.
But he killed Aeris Gainsborough.
That was the first time I can recall, any developer, anywhere, had the guts and the utter gall to kill a pivotal and beloved character in such a shocking, unpredictable and unanticipated manner.
I replayed the game through six retries, multiple save points, anything I could think of, to try to come up with a path where the Masamune blade never spilled Cetra blood. I knew it had to be my fault, I'd done something wrong, missed a branch, talked to the wrong people...
The shock has never really went away, just scabbed over.

Actually, the barrier got dispelled at some points for unknown reason after the Calamity (most likely, the Elementals didn't have the power to keep it up after what they took in the face), and the Lambs just took residence in it.![]()
I feel that each arc of story sort of has its own. Base 2.0 had the 4 generals, but I'm sort of sad that their battles were so quick. (I feel like by the end, they were really rushing for it to get finished, and that's what we got.) I would have really liked to have seen more of Livia. There was a lot there. I absolutely hated her (and actually felt a little upset) after what she did in the Waking Sands, and I wanted revenge. I was disappointed that her fight felt so anti-climactic. We knew a lot about Gaius from 1.0, but she (and perhaps Rhitahtyn) could have been a lot more interesting. I'd say she was fairly memorable. I was fairly pleased with the climax in general with Gaius. I'm only a little disappointed that he let himself be set up so easily, and in many ways, went from being a sort of anti-hero character in 1.0, to essentially falling into the same trap that Nael did, in his hunger to 'save' Eorzea.
Nero has continued into another story arc himself. So far, he's been the shady villain of that storyline, if we don't count Xande and Amon.
Then, in the continued main storyline of the Seventh Astral Era, we have the Ascians making a more focused appearance, along with Elidibus, constantly meddling in everyone's business and tricking people into their plans. Each Primal has had it's star showing, but it's hard to put them into the category you're wanting. Zodiark sounds more like a Promathia type boss to me. We also have Teledgi as a political villain, who wants to get his hands on Omega, so we might have something going on there in the future. Until we get to the climax of the Seventh Astral Era though, it's hard to really say who will turn out to be the most memorable villain.
Well we are still picking up the pieces after project meteor, untill the final coil hits on the 28th Nael is still the most challenging boss in the game, and the replica of his halberd was a huge driving force in the Hildibrand questline. Bottom line, I think Nael van Darnus is still the bad guy of Final Fantasy XIV. But Nero is on the right track to take his position.
As for Sephiroth himself, I wouldn't mind actually crossing blades with him. We fought alongside Lightning. We battled Shantotto and Gilgamesh. In 2.5 we will do battle with the Cloud of Darkness....any crossover is possible now.
Lightning was sent in this world by whatever being decide where they go (not versed in XIII!), Shantotto made a diemsnional travel spell and is the most powerful being in XI, Gilgamesh always had the ability to travel between worlds, and Cloud of Darkness is a void (which apparently links all worlds) being.
Sephiroth is a few cells in the lifestream.
Could have worked if he did use the Planet as a ship though! (omg Dalamud 2!)
How about this? Cid of Lufain finally opened a portal to escape Shinryu and the portal opens to Eorzea. Of course such a portal heavily disrupts the aetheric flow so the Scions (and hopefully HIldebrand) is sent to investigate. Inside the portal you bump into several of the iconic heroes and villains of the franchise who were summoned there by Cid to help free him- Basically like what he did in Confessions of a Creator.Lightning was sent in this world by whatever being decide where they go (not versed in XIII!), Shantotto made a diemsnional travel spell and is the most powerful being in XI, Gilgamesh always had the ability to travel between worlds, and Cloud of Darkness is a void (which apparently links all worlds) being.
