Nitpicking...? You actually want to "nitpick" on an established fact? Are you just trying to increase your post count or just making a knee-jerk reaction to everything you read? Did you not look at the links to the cutscenes in my previous post?

Unlike you, without going into spoiler details; the original Nael is male... trust me. My linkshell at the time were amoung the first on the server to defeat him... our bloody video is even still on You Tube and he's definitely on the male team.

Already heard it... I speak passable French and my best friend in real life is actually French. Back to the subject on hand, allow me to return this back on track: we are discussing who...or what... will take up the mantle of being the next villainous badness we wil all love to hate.

Which reminds me about another candidate from the original 1.0... guys, whatever happened to Travenchet?

I really liked what we saw of Nero Tol Scaeva in the Crystal Tower quests, I think that if he makes it through the storyline alive, he could become a decent enemy in the future.

I spent most of the ST cutscenes in an alternate universe...anytime Cid and I were off somewhere together I imagined my character begging him to let her kill him, especially when Nero was off in some random corner with his back to us, but he wouldn't let her. And then after Nero got taken by the Cloud of Darkness she started giving Cid an "I told you so" speech :P

So yeah, as far as my character is concerned, if he comes back from the Void alive he's not remaining that way for very long...

I feel he is also much more Cid's adversary than our own, and isn't really a big threat to the greater world...when he's working alone. IDK, he seems to be the kind of person who needs a patron to be "great", someone to give him the tools to make something terrifying out of; he doesn't seem to be the kind of person to really make something purely on his own. He is cunning and manipulative, but still needs someone to make his plans work (look at how his encounter with the Cloud turned out as far as we know)

When Nero returns from the Void, he'll be fused with the Cloud of Darkness, and suddenly.. Void Magitek.

How who shot Mr Burns - er, I mean Niellefresne, got shoehorned into 2.0 cannon but the fate of an actual Ascian didn't has always confused me greatly. I do hope they come back to the plot point of pre-meteor Ascian machinations.

Thing is, we don't know if Gauis is really dead. Yes we defeated him, but we also defeated Nero Tol Scaeva who made a reappearance with The Crystal Tower with a new agenda.

But I'm still hoping for some meaty Garlean content to come as the mix of swords and sorcery plus super advanced tech gives me a greater feel of Final Fantasy than pretty much everything else. Plus finding out what is happening in the Garlean Empire, are they licking their wounds and rebuilding to cause mischief in the future? Or are tehy finished? Something I cannot see as the EMpire is vast, losing what they did would set them back, but, imo, be far from a fatal blow.

Nero escaped before the Praetorium exploded. I would love if Gaius did survive the explosion, but I don't see it happening unless the Ascians yanked him out of there at the last second.

A list of all our Current enemies so far

    • Garlean Empire: Imperialist (and probably atheist) empire (yay for redundancy) who wants to take Over Erozea and purge it of "eikons". Three of the only candidates (Nael, Gaius and the emporer) for Big bad are deceased whiel nero is in Limbo as of the events of ST
    • Asceans: Current contenders for Big Bad ATM. They seek to awaken Zoroark for some reason
    • Bahamut: Elder Primal, current on Life support in the scattered Ruins of Dalamud but could be a major threat in the future (especially considering who he has enthralled)
    • Lambs of Dalamud: Lunatic cult that so far doen nothing outside of Tamtara. They might be manipulated though. Maybe by bahamut?
    • Laughing Alchemists: A company who wnated to raise an army of undead beastmen, was thwarted by the PC and the newly allied beastmen tribes so I doubt they will be important later on
    • The Syndicate: A group of Ul'dahn nobles that seems to want make Ul'dah a Plutopracy. Their only obstacle is Nanamo Ul Namo, who is in a bizzare position of power. Becuase she has the support of the Immortal Flames and the citizens, the Syndicate is stuck having to do realpolitik with her. But her desicions have to meet their approval and obviously they're likely to veto desicisons to the effect of "I wnat the Syndicate to disband" or "Stop putting the citizens under the bus!". Made worse by the fact that one of them, Teledgi Aledji, is trying to find Omega weapon.
    • Cloud of Darkness: Voidsent queen (she might as well be) and enigmatic (unless you played III and even then this incarnation might be different)
The most likely to be out "Sephiroth" would be Cloud of Darkness (which would be redundant), Bahamut (again redundnat, he;s already iconic in a different way), the Syndicate (espeiclay if Teledji gets Omega) and the Asceans

The Lambs of Dalamud are involved in the FATE Dark Devices, and infest that area thickly, but otherwise I guess you could say they haven't done much outside of Tam-Tara Deepcroft. Not sure they'd need to be enthralled to anything but their own desire for chaos.
Bahmut would depend on how the Binding Coil of Bahamut ends, I suppose. Cloud of Darkness will also depend on how Crystal Tower develops. Perhaps Nero has found the woman to help settle him and his wild, wandering ways.
The Ascians will probably continue to develop as the antithesis of Light, along with Zodiark, Father, lover, kindred spirit?
The Garlean Empire will probably be the storm on the horizon until it inevitably collapses into an aether-thirsty technocratic republic.
Laughing Alchemist is so important that I can't recall ever hearing about them...

the emperor is dead or soon to be (hence Doma and the revolt) and the empire probably won't be a threat for a time when the empire dies.
Zodiark/Bahamut are of the same kind, they'll stay eternally as threats, but I can't see them as "the big bad guy"
Cloud of Darkness is most likely only a side villain, unrelated to future elements
The syndicate could be a candidate if we weren't about to reap their heads with Omega coming. If they lay a finger on it, they're next on our "to pacify" list
