From my experience, to spawn Nandi all you have to walk by where he will spawn with your minion out. This theory works out pretty well with the hunter scholar text imo, the last 4 times i spawned him he spawned on me while i was walking by without even spamming minion roulette.

I had another thought on Nandi, although I'm not sure how we would go about testing it effectively. The hint text (again, for whatever it is worth) talks about traveling in the area with companions. Could it be as simple as joining a party, or maybe just entering the area? I understand the evidence indicates that it is not active player action, so that is why I was wondering if it was passive action.

"Companion" refers to the companion system, aka summoning your bird, not having party members.

For southern Thanalan - S rank. I think you just have to engage in battle. It don't think it has to be fate or large scale battles. i walked by an area and didn't see him. I was doing my beast dailies in the area and was killing the locals. Out of nowhere he just spawned on the location i killed the last mob.

Now, Slycer didn't translate all lines for Nandi for some reason so I'll drag out the relevant one

You'd be better off avoiding travels to Upper La Noscea with any weird companions unless you want to meet the same fate.

Now, "weird companions" refers to "風変わりな連れ" (fuugawari na tsure). In no way does this directly point at the MINIONS (ミニオン) or COMPANIONS (バディ). It just says strange company. Companion. Strange following. Weird people. Weird party. Weird people. It can be any of those things.

Please *PLEASE* stop drawing conclusions from misleading translations.

I failed to catch a Glimmerscale (Got away) and Zona Seeker still popped. I asked in Shout if anyone else was fishing and found a Glimmerscale but I got no reply. Someone was looking for the S before the Glimmerscalse appeared, and it didn't pop yet.

So maybe you don't have to catch it. It just needs to bite (?)

You posted that companion refers to the companion system, since that was your reference for it, denouncing parties altogether. And you had to be referring to Slycer's translation, as the official English client has no references or any use of the word "companion" at all.

Meanwhile companions are called buddies in Japanese. And tsure (連れ) refers to a wide generalization of having someone/something along with you, not JUST companion. This is why I heavily react to this.

Again, correlation does not necessarily mean causation. It is possible that you may be onto something, but you need to be sure there were no other conditions being met elsewhere in the zone. As Vandes has said, our server has taken multiple parties there and done countless FATEs (which equals battles) and not had success. So there is likely some condition to the battles that we are not aware of. It could be a specific mob type, X number of mob deaths in a certain time, certain battle types, X number of FATEs completed in a certain time, etc.

No, I did not refer to Slycer's translation, Ogun_Riastradh's post is the one that said "traveling the area with companions" and I replied to this specifically, but thanks for the clarification and sorry for causing confusion.

Still no sign of Nunyuniwi on Mateus server. Last time it spawned was Friday morning, around 2.30am (October 3rd, 2014).

Sometime's it sucks being on a low populated server i really think they should fix this, so it has a chance to spawn per fate, not can spawn with large amount's of people. >_> as this is unfair on the low populated servers.

That's why I put the caveat that it was from a hunt hint, and we have repeatedly talked about how they may not be translated, localized or understood in the proper context yet.
