Hm, they do both seem to have their advantages in their own ways. I know that I definitely need to get in there and test them out myself, but I was just curious as to others opinions. I like good conversation. /shrug

And, Bucy, ohmygod, I know what you mean about being stuck with heavy! My main right now is BRD, and it is quite annoying. I even try to evade the enemies but sometimes it's just going to happen.

WAR gets 25% more HP, while receiving 20% more healing.

I have both tank jobs at i110, and have Nexus on my WAR. I can easily say that WAR is more more fun and rewarding to play. PLD takes very little effort to play correctly.

If you're looking for a nice, solid, easy tank job, then play PLD. If you enjoy tank jobs that require more than popping a few CDs every now and then, play WAR.

Well, this does seem to be the general consensus. Which is good to know! Thinking it may be best to work with PLD more until I get the hang of tanking, maybe get it around the level that will get the cross class skill provoke, then give WAR a try. I jump around sometimes.

I wasn't knocking PLD in my previous post, btw. After reading over it, I feel like it looked like I was. PLD is a very effective tank job, both are. I started in 2.0 as PLD and loved it. It wasn't until I got my WAR to 50 that I realized how much more enjoyable and rewarding it was to play WAR effectively.

You might find yourself loving PLD, or you might be like me and think WAR is much more fun to play. Whichever you pick, they're both perfectly capable of clearing every piece of content in the game. People that think one is better than the other, simply have no clue what they're talking about.

Oh, no! I didn't think you were knocking PLD. Everyone seems to agree it is easier to play in general, but that WAR is just more fun. I think I will probably feel the same way, once I develop each one more. I just think as a newbie tank, it would probably be easier for me to start out with PLD.

I'm usually DPS because I don't generally like being the one to make or break the run. But I wanted to branch out. Some friends of mine may be joining soon too, and I figured it would be helpful to be something other than DPS and I wanted try out tanking more than I wanted to try out healing.

Personally, OP, it's a tough call because they both play differently and are fun in their own ways. I have a hard time choosing between the two. If you can, level them both up so you can always tank and have the option of either one to break the monotony.

Both WAR and PLD's stun are good. I think Warrior's stun is better generally because MOST things you need to stun happen within 10-20 second intervals. But PLD's stun is superior for specific fights such as Leviathan EX and Dreadnaught's in T5.

My advice is, play both! I started as PLD and I leveled WAR eventually. They're both fun, but a little different. All the content in the game is doable with either tank.

If you're only having a tank as a side class and don't intend to play tanks extensively: Go for the one that is aesthetically pleasing to you. In this case, WAR since you like to run around with a big axe. Part of the game is after all enjoying how your character looks.

If you want to become a full time tank/exceptional tank player: Go both.

Just know that whichever choice you make, you shouldn't be excluded from any content by the choice of your class.
