No, what OP is describing isn't elitist. Equipping the right gear for you current job is basic reading comprehensionJust because you say it's not being elitist does not change the fact that it reads that way. Yes people get assigned a job when queuing for DF and in a lot of cases it helps with the success of the dungeon. But have you thought about asking why they chose to do it that way?

Thanks for your feedback... I guess having taken a break and returned to this great game I am still in the phase where I think that by the time people reached the end game where it matters they have worked out they like to set up their gear and there are reasons behind it.
We all can dream!
The current system allows very little customization, other than tanks switching STR/VIT gear there's no reason for a SMN to use DEX gear or a DRG to use MND, or any class to use crafter/gatherer gear, though this one was thankfully killed by SE's new SB rules/requirements.Thanks for your feedback... Wasn't this a large part of why Vanity gear was implemented? Just so we could wear pretty gear we liked and also wear whatever we own that has stats proper for our class/job?
But I agree. By virtue of gaining the skill and experience on said endgame content, you should be outfitted for such just by the rewards of mastering said content. Otherwise, you are just making it harder on yourself and your party.

Just by saying "horrible players" and describing this like if it was a plague, a dissease, something to get rid off almost like ebola, makes this thread completely elitist. And is not about content of the message, but how is delivered and how any normal person, specially the ones you are aiming for will read it, if anything, this encourages players to just keep doing this with the hope of just pissing people like you off, which is, at the end of the day, probably more satisfactory for them than progressing throught content.
Seriously, if you want to evade having to see this, don`t use DF, get a group of the people you are comfortable with and let players play like they want. Most DF content is almost 2 man carriable anyway. And ranting about it, trying to do lectured about it, is just... Well, truth is, good players TEACH and good players LEARN, first by having a good positive attitude and the seconds by wanting to improve everyday. Nor you nor players who really never cared fit in this group and both are just diferent faces of the same coin. A negative coin sadly way to deep in our community.
There's three reasons I can think of why a competent/good player will equip accessories not for their job.
1) Spiritbonding. It happens, I know, but if you're in a dungeon, please have as much job-related SB gear on...don't care what you do at Urth's or in an overworld Castrum
2) Using another accessory to get into a PF they just miss the ilv req for. Not saying this is right or wrong, but if you are good enough and just miss the req I probably would never know you cheated it. But, if you aren't good enough and are found out...
3) Trolling.
Now, sometimes people will do weird runs and the like, but as long as its with a pre-formed group or static its fine. Going with randoms is closer to trolling
Just for reference, I'm a WAR and I use some STR accessories in most content (T9 and progression I go full VIT accessories; overworld anything and lowbie [Cutter's Cry and earlier] dungeons I have full STR accessories) and have a 20/10 STR/VIT attribute split. So I am someone who is "breaking the mold" for this part of the game.
Just going to say, SMN cannot equip Daystar left side, and the right side look exactly like Evenstar. You'd have to be gear-checking everyone (and mousing over every Sol accessory) to figure it out.

I was just using that as an example. I know SMN's can't equip Daystar left side that's like MMO 101. I was referring to accessories and saying I don't see a DRG running around wearing casting gear or whatever other job/class combo you can think of.

You must not touch DF because I see this every day, or else I would not have made a thread on it. We're also in the same data center, so I know they must exist in your queue.

Players who cannot comprehend the message in the OP's post or just mis-gear because of trolling have no place in any decent group. If you want to troll because you like pissing people off, get prepared for a buttkick out of the group. If you do not even understand the simplest rules about gear progression and stats which is clearly described in your character sheet, then maybe that game is not for you. Granted, I do tell people when I see that they have the wrong stats skilled....but if you still don't believe it or refuse to get educated about it...bye bye. (You is used as a general term of addressing in my post....not you specifically)this encourages players to just keep doing this with the hope of just pissing people like you off, which is, at the end of the day, probably more satisfactory for them than progressing throught content.

Keeping a positive attitude about a complete fail in understanding only goes so far....I am generally quite forgiving towards new players and try to teach them but it piles up and my patience is running thing on some days. Moreover, I can at least expect a will to learn and not total ignorance about game mechanics.

Nah.
Level with whatever you want. Dump 10k seals (pocket change) to maximize your stats at level 50 for optimal endgame results. Even so, a point of something else here or there isn't going to make much difference unless you're highly particular about optimization.
