Mwuah, we'll have to wait and see I'm sure. However, thus far my general experience with MMO's and game developers in general is that deadlines are usually never met. And if they are, it tends to be done in a rather buggy form simply to end up being patched again a few weeks later. So I'd be surprised to see FF XIV start pushing content patches at 3 months dead on, without compromising quantity and quality of the patches.

So you're thinking a little before the 2 year anniversary would be the spot? That's a good a mount of time to develop an expansion.

edit: Does any one have a link to information about the direct X 11 client or more information?

+10 Levels would also make the most sense:
    SMN example-
50 level break quest?(Possibly repeated every 5 lvls)
    50 Levi
55 level break quest?(Possibly repeated every 5 lvls)
    55 Ramuh
    55 af2 from quest
    60 Shiva
    60 af2 from quest pt2

with that of course af+1 is the new tomes or whatever crap they decide to use this time around.

but 10 levels may hold players down for a year, but at the rate of completion, the story and the patches till 4.0 will have to be amazing and push the limits of the new lvl and ilvl.

also it seems that the start 3.0 will be the end of the primals included in the story? cant imagine savage primals -.- same fights, boring. so they have to think of new things to add to keep player interest.

but if they added new primals (sad that diabolos, siren, and now fenrir are dungeon bosses:/), then smn (example) have to wait till 4.0s new level cap and hope to attain them.

inb4: world of darkness/3rdcoil leveling parties lol (SCoB T3 infinite mobs?). day 1 60s everywhere and massive Leveling/SB parties while doing it xD

though im sure everything in game will scale down to fit the new lvl and dungeons and stuff lol but i see fate/leve grinding in new zones. kinda like 2.0 fresh

Well they certainly have the people necessary to accomplish such a feat and, with FFXIV currently being one of SE's greatest successes in years, they should also have the funding as well.

I think, once the DX11 client actually gets finished, then everyone working on those clients will get reassigned to the content dev teams and speed things up considerably. But as of right now, those clients are acting as a weight on FFXIV's patch release schedule.

What does it matter if they even raise the level cap, you'll still be forced to use the same combos because of the restricted combat system.

Yes because new skills and traits certainly don't change how you play your job. I suppose you still use transpose, ignore all procs, and just never put f3 and b3 on your bar.

Can't follow everyone else, gotta be my own wizard.

Just saying they can't new styles of playing the same class, unless they rehaul the system. You can only have hotkey so many abilities.

On a cross hotbar, that's 16 hotkeys x 8 hotbar configurations for a total of 128 available hotkeys on a full cross hotbar. I don't think anyone really needs much more than that.

Seriously. The hotkey limit is nowhere near being reached, if a couple new skills makes this game overly complicated for you then an MMO may not be the right type of game for you.
Not to mention traits are important. New abilities can replace older ones and cause significant rotation changes.

You may lack the creativity to think of how new abilities will work, but thankfully, it's not your job to design the game.
Not that SE has shown any significant creativity in the past few patches, but the point stands on principle.
