No I am saying the first update should have prioritized content over combat updates. The combat wasn't THAT bad, but the content was non-existent.
Only a few quests? Not including the storyline or class quests, I've already collected or completed 20 sidequests and I haven't even done rounds around the cities or various outposts, or advanced in the GCs, to see what other quests there are.The game is really the same except progression greatly slowed down. The new content will get old very, very fast if you think about it from an objective perspective. The dungeons were way overhyped and underachieved, there are very few quests and of those many require absurd traveling distances for very little SP, settlements are useless, a few new beastmen mobs for extra grinding and some new icons.
Yeah some will say more to come in the future but we are fast approaching a year. Patch 1.18 was supposed to be the fix we had all been waiting for, now everyone is saying it's 1.19 and when that comes the real fix will be 1.20. You get the idea. SE should count themselves lucky to have such devoted fans.
Also I got an oiled hatchet as a reward (`・ω・´) I lost my other hatchet somehow.
Peach Parfait/Khulan Angura on Gilgamesh
Let me translate this for the non otaku-ff-nerds.i lol'd.
There were a lot of ways to rank up classes before Patch and they are still in the Game. A lot of Guys seriously need to learn how to optimize and be effective. Failing Leves is not the way SP'ing should have worked. Because of that we have tons of complainers now, which dont even know how to play their Role.
GO out OF ULDAH for once and SP in regular SP Parties. Its not hard, its more easy than leve-linking, more fun, less pt-dumpings cause you dont want to do BIG3, more SP/hour anyways etc etc.
I seriously wonder if i just fell into a WoW-Forum here....
There are tons of ways to get great SP! Just go out and grind on raptors, or dodos, or mites, or anything. Just go to another zone and grind on mobs. So many ways to level don't you see! You can even hunt regular dodos and fat ones. THE DIVERSITY IS ASTONISHING.
I'm back after running a few solo leves with the goal of finishing them in under 5 mins for max SP. Did 3 runs as a 24 THM at Camp Drybone (just to get some numbers) - Results:
5 star - 24 THM solo - Avg SP/Kill (NO GF): 45 - Bonus SP for completing under 5 mins: 138
So with an average of 7 mobs per leve ("The Enemy Appears"), being 14 levels over but finishing a 5 star in under 5 minutes nets you 453~ SP.
Ok! Let's move on to Camp Horizon with our 24 THM and see what the SP is like..
The Devilet Inside - 1 Star - 24 THM solo - Avg SP/Kill (WITH GF): 61 - Bonus SP for completing under 5 mins: 960
A Leg Up - 2 Star - 24 THM solo - Avg SP/Kill (WITH GF): 72 - Bonus SP: 840
So.. 1500~2000 SP for 5 minutes work doesn't sound like such a terrible thing.. until you factor in you can only do so many leves at the optimal rank, with a cap of 8 per 36h.
I can take my 24 THM to Nanawa Mines and try there.. but then we're not really talking "casual" play at that level.. It's possible, sure. Probably not for the average weekend warrior though.
So to sum up: Don't use GF, or bother with leves at all until level 30..? I'm not sure how else to take the results, but yeah this is a ridiculously small sample size. Can someone else post pre-30 solo leve results? Either way, I'm pretty certain it won't stay like this too long. I'm completely underwhelmed, unless I'm still doing it wrong. I welcome feedback![]()

I wouldn't call 1.18 the fix.. id call it the new foundation.
Unless you have a R50 hiding somewhere Kensei i have to ask, have you even done all the instances? not trying to be a di** but how can you judge the content if you haven't even played through it. Remember Yoshi said after patch 1.18 (the foundation) the patches would begin to come more quickly and flow more smoothly. Based on that i would like to think that more and more content will be steadily flowing in along with refinements to existing systems.
This is the first overhaul patch and it is now only the second day, chill out people.
Edit: I guess technically its the third day here O.o

I think SP gain was too easy before 1.18 patch.
This should be where MMO should be.
They need you to play "as long as possible"
Not just play for a few week and then reach 50 and then ask for more end-game content forever.
This game is a new game, not like FFXI that it's too old and they just throw super easy exp gain to let people have fun with end-game content as much as possible to stay alive for a few years.
I think if you don't like it, just try something more easy to play than this game.
Or try to find "which" way is the best sp/hour before post any complain here.
I think you do something wrong, it not a game system fault.
Most people would have hated the content if it was done for the old combat system. Everyone would've cleared that R45 dungeon by now because you could just heal spam all day every day and never go out of mana or draw hate. There are things that need to be ironed out with this new system but I do believe it was critical to accompany or precede the content.
I don't know about you, but I count over 100 quests atm not considering the new ones we got. I know its a joke compared to other MMOs at release, but considering quests weren't even planned at the beginning...The game is really the same except progression greatly slowed down. The new content will get old very, very fast if you think about it from an objective perspective. Plus, we got Grand Companies now and I can tell, I think the storyline looks promising and it was fun so far to do them. Plus we get the continuation of the quests in 1.19
People can farm seals to get equip or items, people can farm deaspected crystals to exchange for stuff now. Handing in sidequests gives a shitton of SP(last main storyline quest 46k SP anyone?!)
We got 2 dungeons, which is not the world, but the R50 alone will keep a lot of people busy who actually have the breath to do them, cause they are far from being faceroll.
Other then that people still got the Main Storyline, the class quests and now encampments in the outskirts.
The game is shaping up really nice and I'm really looking forward to the next patches.
I could give a shit about all the people complaining about some changes in 1.18 It IS the first patch that finally did something for FFXIV and its the first step to a way brighter future.
There is no question improvements will/should come with future patch released. But objectively look at what was added and how it was implemented you decide if there is a ton more to do now than pre-patch. What can't be denied is the massive nerf to progression. I just don't see the reasoning.I wouldn't call 1.18 the fix.. id call it the new foundation.

And before someone comes up with the "now you have to work, it will feel like an achievement" BS. The only achievement would be that instead of grinding for 4 hours now you have to grind for 12 for the same result. I don't know how that would be something to brag about.
Yes there is not a HUGE amount of content but there is plenty to keep me interested at least till the next patch. Grinding is what you do in MMORPG's, as of right now it can not be avoided other than if SE handed you a R50 geared and ready for endgame. One day maybe there will be a hit MMORPG that has 0 grinding but for now to assume otherwise is foolish. There is no question improvements will/should come with future patch released. I do not buy into the SP being super nerfed line of thinking, you need to explore new ways of leveling outside of besiege and leves, both were nerfed for that exact reason. Like i said earlier i was soloing for 200-300SP random mobs near Silver bazaar with unsettling ease.
