I think the problem is not that people dislike discussion or want every class to be the same forever. It's that these threads often devolve into...

That's exactly my point. I'd bet all my gil that if someone started a thread for a legitimate discussion, it would turn into this again. The community simply isn't ready to talk about issues rationally, at least not anymore. I had a nice thread going at release that now rests at about 58 pages (572 posts) in English, and 29 page thread (287 posts) in the Japanese forum that's still on the first page.

I'd like to discuss real issues and bugs for the developers to get feedback, but, for some reason, it just isn't pheasible anymore.
