I like the current Frontline PVP and hope they add more instanced battlefields with more game types and objectives.
I'm really not interested in another new convoluted system or open world mess.

Nothing convoluted or messy about this suggestion... love forum trolls.
Is that what we can use the Goblet for? xD
Calling people trolls just because they disagree with your idea just makes you as bad as the ones you are calling trolls.
In any case just some things to think about:
1. On your dedicated arena idea:
- Where would they be placed? A NPC to pull you in as you said, seems a bit silly really. Where are the actual arenas?
- Will this affect the current PvP queues for Wolve's Den and Frontlines?
- Will there be any PvP experience, Myth/Sol, and/or Wolf Marks rewarded? If not, what you do you think the likelihood of people doing it? Less than the current PvP content?
- How much time and effort would it take to implement something like this versus the popularity/or lack of popularity of the current PvP systems?
- Would you have the same restrictions as Frontlines (DEF/MDEF stat boosts don't work), or like Wolves Den where the morale stat works?
- How many people can watch the match?
- Can they interact/chat with the players?
- What happens if you queue up and then leave/withdraw?
- How do you handle harassment? (ie player 1 challenges player 2, player 1 loses, but won't leave player 2 alone because they are done with PvP'ing) If you are thinking blacklisting or filing a report. How much more time will the GM staff have to spend on these reports?
- Will this be cross server accessible?
- How much time would it take to implement?
- How many instances would have to be created?
- Is there a queue?
- How much would it cost to maintain (for hardware/servers)?
- How much baby sitting on the network and admin side of things would have to be accounted for?
- Will this take time from other projects/content being built for the game?
2. Deathmatch: Already exists in Wolves Den (although a change in scenery would be nice).
3. King of the hill: So, deathmatch pretty much but it turns into a All vs 1. Or at least that's how every king of the hill game I've seen go. Basically, it's a free for all, no one works together. Everyone vs everyone.
4. Objective collection: Already exists in Frontlines...called flags and well if you've done any sort of Frontlines you know how often that works trying to coordinate a party let alone an alliance.
5. PvP FATES: What you described sounds exactly like normal FATES with the exception that people could try and kill each other off. So, instead of working at getting the FATE down you just eliminate others and then finish the FATE?
6. Arena hazards, like traps? People love traps when they are trying to take down other people. Or you know totally ignore them.
As for your final question do I agree that your idea is an agreeable compromise?
No, I don't think it's an agreeable compromise. And I'm a PvPer (Rank 40, have horse, have 4 complete sets, working on 5th).
Personally, I'd like to see their time spent fixing the current PvP issues than adding more of a mess.
No, I call trolls the ones who troll by having a blatant disregard for context & flame just for the sake of it. The dude just threw out an insult that doesn't even apply to the suggestion made, just a trolling blanket statement.
It'd be cool to see a walk-in Arena for dueling in each of the Housing Wards
Obviously not in the middle of everything.
The Goblet could have a Brawler's Pit, could even be indoor.

- Where would they be placed? A NPC to pull you in as you said, seems a bit silly really. Where are the actual arenas?
>A few low-pop. zones, many could be carved into mountainsides/unreachable terrain similar to Summerford Farms; the NPC is merely there for flagging purposes & to prevent hordes haphazardly leaping in from all sides, it's practically non-essential however... I just imagine it easier to codify for the system.
- Will this affect the current PvP queues for Wolve's Den and Frontlines?
>Doubtful, people who like PvP will do this while waiting for their queues to pop (it's not instanced).
- Will there be any PvP experience, Myth/Sol, and/or Wolf Marks rewarded? If not, what you do you think the likelihood of people doing it? Less than the current PvP content?
> Yes but only for the PVP FATE's... differing amounts for Bronze/Silver/Gold.
- How much time and effort would it take to implement something like this versus the popularity/or lack of popularity of the current PvP systems?
>Layouts would be pretty simple designs for the most part, utilizing current assets. Systems-wise, it's rather simple, I doubt it would take much time or effort on SE's part.
- Would you have the same restrictions as Frontlines (DEF/MDEF stat boosts don't work), or like Wolves Den where the morale stat works?
>For plain dueling, I'd say Morale works... probably Frontlines restrictions for the PVP FATE's though.
- How many people can watch the match?
>However many, people can view in real-time from the sidelines (it's not instanced, the NPC just moves you into the Arena is all). Many of the Arena's I imagine to be sunk into the ground a little for spectating purposes. One such Arena could even be the Wolve's Den, players could line up around the outer walls & view down.
- Can they interact/chat with the players?
>I'd say no (again, this gives more credence to the NPC idea for Flagging purposes & altering of chat/enabling of PVP actions/traits), for the same reasons other forms of PVP prevent it (no heckling/insults, etc.).
- What happens if you queue up and then leave/withdraw?
>This' not something you queue for.
- How do you handle harassment? (ie player 1 challenges player 2, player 1 loses, but won't leave player 2 alone because they are done with PvP'ing) If you are thinking blacklisting or filing a report. How much more time will the GM staff have to spend on these reports?
>Doubtful harassment will be much of an issue, 1. because you opt-out seamlessly (just go to a different Arena in the world if you're bothered) & 2. because it doesn't interfere with PVE objectives/tasks unlike wPVP.
- Will this be cross server accessible?
>No, since it isn't instanced, it's merely server-wide.
- How much time would it take to implement?
>Not an incredible amount of time, definitely not to the extent of Frontlines or the like. Sure, Arena's would need to be sculpted & PVP FATE's devised, but the suggestion isn't massive-scale.
- How many instances would have to be created?
>None.
- Is there a queue?
>No.
- How much would it cost to maintain (for hardware/servers)?
>Nothing, since it isn't instanced.
- How much baby sitting on the network and admin side of things would have to be accounted for?
>Virtually none since no additional hardware is utilized.
- Will this take time from other projects/content being built for the game?
>Inevitably some, though most of the work would go to the Landscape Artists... the Arena's make for a pretty simplistic addition though overall.
2. Deathmatch: Already exists in Wolves Den (although a change in scenery would be nice).
>Wolve's Den takes queueing & you can't do so against friends or players from your own server without win-trading, nor can you alter the format (from 4v4 to 2v2, etc.).
3. King of the hill: So, deathmatch pretty much but it turns into a All vs 1. Or at least that's how every king of the hill game I've seen go. Basically, it's a free for all, no one works together. Everyone vs everyone.
>FATE Credit would be determined differently & it would encourage players into isolated skirmishes... basically a small-scale Frontlines, more risqué than a simple DM (BRD has to make himself vulnerable in the zone, can't just range-creep all day, etc.).
4. Objective collection: Already exists in Frontlines...called flags and well if you've done any sort of Frontlines you know how often that works trying to coordinate a party let alone an alliance.
>Flags are basically King of the Hill points, not Collectibles. I'm talking like the FATE's where you have to turn-in so many items by the end. So heated battles for randomly generated collectibles within the Arena. Besides, these PVP FATE concepts were very loosely suggested (not fleshed out completely, there just to promote the conceptual side of things).
5. PvP FATES: What you described sounds exactly like normal FATES with the exception that people could try and kill each other off. So, instead of working at getting the FATE down you just eliminate others and then finish the FATE?
>Well, there would be respawning & some would work by 'getting the FATE down'... for instance, first person to 2,000 points in King of the Hill or 30 Turn-In's for Objective Collection.
6. Arena hazards, like traps? People love traps when they are trying to take down other people. Or you know totally ignore them.
>Yeah, not an essential idea but traps can make for a more fun & dynamic experience if implemented properly.
>Contextually, the compromise has to do with how to implement Open-World PVP in Eorzea. It's okay if you disagree, but I think you misunderstood a little.

Yeah...I think I'm just going to walk away from this one. Some of the things you easily dismiss gives me a great insight of of things you don't quite understand.
In any case, have fun!
