I dont think pvp server is need, there are various way to add in pvp:

    1. System allow player to flag themself as pvp or pve with 24h CD to prevent abuse, mean the player can turn on pvp and pvp with other ppl in the current map w/o effect pve player and will not ruin anyone immersion.

    2. Add in pvp map with siege style to control a stronghold or a camp. The zone normaly will be pve zone but when the time come (I think about 3 time zone with Jp prime time, US prime & Eu prime time) the zone will become pvp and the FC who register to attack a camp are allow to capture it, the other can register to defense, and those do not wish to register to attack or defense, are allow to mess thing up by join the pvp or wait until the siege time is over. The siege time can be 2 to 3h

    3. On top of those 2 options, SE can add in duel system, allow player to duel and test themself every where but dungeon & raid. Of course SE will add in system in option allow player to auto deciline duel right ?

    ^exactly.

And if an S Spawns, likely those PVP'rs would quit what they're doing & join the Hunt anyway, causing virtually no difference in zone population.

It's low key & small-scale enough it shouldn't really interfere with anything else or cause server/zonal issues.

I see it being very simple for them to develop too. Far easier than creating a PVP Server & devising custom rules for it, or even zones dedicated to PVP.

Hence why this thread is labeled "compromise".

A lot of players despise the idea of PVP in FF, I disagree but I can't alter their opinion.

What I'm hoping is they'd support the option, in light, for we who do want some ability to PVP in the Open-World.

I don't think this' asking for much.

Now I will say this... and I know some might not like it but we did have fun with this in FFXI and I don't care if there are rewards for it.

We (my FC) was really excited when Frontline was announced because we thought we could go in as a team and play together, or against one another. Of course they ended up making it to where you could only play with people who were in the same GC, which not all of us are. We actually have a healthy mix of all three GC's.

What we would really like to see is a form of Brenner from FFXI:
Brenner is a competition played by two teams of 1 to 72 players each. The goal of Brenner is to light all of your side's Flammen-Brenner (flame burners) and then protect the Flamme (flames) for a set amount of time.
We would love to go in together and just beat each other up and have events, and fun that our FC can do together. Or even go in as a group against other FC's in the game!

I think a lot more of our FC would be active in PvP if we knew we could do it together. We are really like a family, and love doing things together... and I know not everyone would agree with it but at least it's me supporting PvP!

    XD

and @ Toodles: Glad it was just a general comment. I'm not against PvP in any way, just never been big into it unless it was with my LS back in my FFXI days.

The best compromise that SE can do for PvP is seriously ease up on the grind. Change it so that you can easily get from rank 1 to rank 40 in like 50-60 FL 1st place wins (max exp) and introduce a "Prestige" system where you can reset your rank but also can gain more AP to use more skills with the potential to equip all skills once you do it enough times. You can even add title icons next to your name to show that you Prestige.

This satisfies both parties, those who just want to glamour and those who are really dedicated and will rank up multiple times to gain new and more abilities and titles. Once they fix this then they can work on adding more content. I don't want a competition between PvP and PvE for which I should dedicate my grind time to.

The rank up system is fine -- those who are ranking up for glamour are ranking up. People who PvP religiously will PvP regardless of their rank, which would shoot to 40 in time.

The real problem is queue times. People get discouraged when queue times are over 30 mins long; their time is better spent doing something else rather than waiting close to one hour or more for a 15-20 min match. The problem will rectify itself with 2.4 -- a new rank cap and new rewards will keep people interested for a couple of months. Once new rules and more PvE elements are added, it'll be fine.

Exactly. If people knew that they only needed to PvP for a short time to get a glamour ONLY then more people will do it. Right now the grind is still intense, keeping people away from it along with the stigma of people who win-traded their way to 40 running amok. 2.4 will only solve it for the first month or two before the grind kicks in again an people get turned off it again.

The problem with PvP is that the 'hook" is very weak. First 10 ranks are basically given to you in 4-5 FL runs then after that you hit a wall. Its at that point people choose to either stop or keep going. If the "wall" was at lets say 25 or even 30 then people will notice that they are close to their goal and will continue to strive even if its a heavy grind. Its at this point people think that making progress is viable in PvP and will continue to do so, thus reducing queue times.

Also Toodles does bring up a good point about GC restrcitions. Maybe the new PvP changes in 2.4 will allow FC vs FC. That may result in more people PvPing.

It sounds like you're asking for Darkmoon Faire type arenas scattered around the game world with periodic events/FATES in those arenas. Is that right? That seems like something the game should have. That wouldn't have any spillover into other content.

For the dueling, I'm with the suggestion of a 'no duel' flag (maybe set to on by default so new players don't get the frustration of dealing with duel spam) or a dueling area set aside in a section of the city that you have to enter to duel. As long as duels aren't breaking out in the marketplaces then I can't see how it would break immersion. So maybe no dueling in cities unless in a designated dueling area?

Edit: Maybe the golden saucer or platinum mirage would make sense for the location of a deathmatch-type arena? These are new areas that are coming and may be easier on the devs to squeeze something like this into.

Seeing as a Pvp zone currently exist but few people are interested, I can see why you want more zones so the pvp lovers can divide in even smaller incomplete party.

This isn't the case on plenty of servers, Frontlines queue's in under 10 mins. on Coeurl during almost any normal part of a gamer's day.

Also, won't necessarily replace PVP queues... I hardly see it changing them at all as it's something PVP'rs can do while queued up or when they'd otherwise decide to quit doing Frontlines for a while anyway.
