Right... the other day I had a guy asking me why I didn't use this and that in my dragoon... my answer was: Because I'd rather sacrifice some DPS than land on my face every 5 secs. F*** all those "uber" rotations that give 0.00001% more dps. I'm not a min/max tard, I leave all that crap to the elitist crowd.

Get surges going + blood and after the jumps hit all the defense skills + hp recovery. If you're too busy trying to squeeze out that 0.00000000001% dmg instead of staying alive, you suck anyway. The time you spend dead takes away a lot more DPS than not getting out that stupid nano % of dmg.

Under rotation I mean important skills executed in a certain order, that also includes CD skills. CD skills are an important part of the rotation.

Every bit counts. If you do not activate all your damage skills because you think they are not important - you are a bad DPS and should pick an easier class. A good player can pop all dmg skills AND stay alive at the same time.

Learn to read before you comment, mr. elitist.

If you're dead, you're not doing ANY DAMAGE AT ALL.

Not everyone plays the same way or cares about the 0.000000000001% damage that min/max nerds care about. Deal with it.

    Good day.

Why so butthurt? Learn to read before you comment, scrub. Let me highlight it for you: A good player can pop all dmg skills AND stay alive at the same time.

And that's the difference between a good player and a bad one. For all I care you can just spam the trust combo, it's your decision how to play your character. Nobody can stop you from being bad.

    Good day.
    Good day to you too.

Would you be surprised if I tell you that it's possible to do both?
If you are a DPS you're supposed to deal damage, if you can't survive while doing damage without having to limit yourself you might wanna rethink your class choice, BRD can more safely deal damage.
Also that 1% extra damage can mean a lot, I've had bosses die at 1% and that 1% extra damage could've made a difference, but as the guy was telling you that you weren't using stuff, that would probably mean keeping up HT, CT, Phle as those are easy to notice if not used and that is not a 10^-9% damage increase but quite a lot.

exactly. playing the class properly doesn't mean you are an elitist nerd. Just means you care about being good i guess.

To be fair, it isn't really a nano% of damage. A proper Dragoon Rotation involves timing to make sure that attacks are buffed at all times and the enemy is bleeding the whole time. Thats really all the rotation guides point out... all other skills are used on Cool Down anyway.

On topic: I will defend DRG all the time as not being "THE" derp class of the game (some TANKS die more, and I see a lot of bad BRDs but this is just opinion and anecdote, not fact or really a statement that should be taken seriously). Most of the time, I die a lot if I don't know the fight at all. First time I did titan and ifrit x on DRG, you forget that Jump basically kills you if you use it at the wrong time. Spineshatter and Dragonfire less so because u get to control your character a full second before you would with jump, so those aren't ask risky. IMO that is really the main issue there.

Yep. Animation lock on regular jump is the biggest killer. I remember when learning Titan Ex the number 1 reason I would die is when I would jump and he would instantly use landslide or weight. I had no way to get out of the way.

How do you recommend getting out of the way when you have already jumped? That's why I said when learning the fight. Now I know when landslides and weights are coming and don't jump until it's safe.
