May I know how does latency affect DPS please ? I live on the other side of the planet from where the servers are located and I am pushing 460 DPS with one bard that does foes only at the start of the battle and no HA weapon.

It's almost as if the game doesn't have 2.5 second GCDs and the ability to queue abilities.
Sure. Take the feedback time (latency) between client-server when your skills / procs are ready and you send your action to the server. Multiply this with the number of skills you press during a fight and you get the slack generated by latency (20ms vs 120ms e.g., human reaction neglected). Now think about how much skills you could have been able to press more inside this slack time. This effect is not equal for every DPS class, bards are affected more than BLMs for example. However, this effect exists and it affects all apsects of the game which includes DPS. GCD and queueing lowers the effect but doesn't compensate it completely. Take a basic CS course about networking if you need more information.
Resume: If you're able to put out those numbers, you would be able to push out even higher numbers with less latency.

The guy specified EU. I gave an example as to where he was wrong. I've been at 150+ping while i've been playing this the last few months. That's becuase latency in EU is actually pretty good in most countries while NA is terribad because of the way internet infrastructure is built over there (and it will probably stay that way for that reason). This has been common knowledge for years, I guess Grotesque switched something up.
Canada's infrastructure is notoriously bad from what i've been told. I'd love to have a proper EU datacenter and have some of the low pings that Canadian players enjoy!
Which is all well and good, but you said these numbers aren't possible with higher latency in the EU, which is untrue.
Are you saying French Canadians suck with their structures? D: We try our bestThe guy specified EU. I gave an example as to where he was wrong. I've been at 150+ping while i've been playing this the last few months.
